I think that score is generous.
The combat is extremely boring. It's literally auto-attack and selecting a few things from a menu.
It's a shame, because the world is beautiful but the gameplay is so, so bad. Compare it to something like Just Cause 3 where you can experiment and roam about having fun.
Music was pretty brutal. Lyrics don't belong in video game let alone all the " yea, yea, yea.. "

The score's pretty spot on. Combat is awful. I loved the flow of battles in xenoblade 1 but they fucked it up here. I can't help but feel even simple arpg combat would have been better for an open world game. Of course, Monolith Soft is staffed by nothing but "creative minds" who can't go to bed without drafting some kind of wacky new battle system. If they ever make a new Baten kaitos it'd be a huge clusterfuck
