People say PS1 success was all about piracy, that is true as it made it a poorfag-friendly console, but why then the system sold like a fuckton of game copies? Almost a thousand million of units, while almost a hundred of those games sold more than a million units?
Perhaps it was because it was a good system and had good games?

I would buy that the Dreamcast did poorly in part because of piracy but the PS1, boot disks and chips aside, did well. It struggled initially due to its price, but the PS1 sold well, it's games sold well, and it's iconic as a result of its popularity.

Yes, they do including me. I can't think a single game I tried out, liked and didn't buy. On the other hand there are a couple of games I bought because of the hype and after 5 minutes I simply uninstalled it.
If I couldn't pirate anything, I would buy far less games desu senpai.

Piracy has literally never advanced a system. Piracy follows the existing success of the system. Not a single anon will be able to point to a time where piracy was enabled/widespread before momentum was already achieved.

Oh man. Look, I love the Saturn, I really do, but it was flawed in a lot of ways.
There's maybe a handful of games for it that are still playable. The N64 was Nintendo's worst system by a landslide, but MK64, GoldenEye, OoT, MM, Star Fox, Perfect Dark, Mario 64, Blast Corps, Bomberman Hero, Smash Butts, Pod Racer, Rogue Squadron, Harvest Moon, Mario Party, Paper Mario, Resident Evil 2, there's fucking tons of good games for it.
The hardware and controller were rotten, but the average gamer has much more to find in the n64 than the saturn.
