Nintendo has less equity than Sony though, and even with money, Nintendo has little mindshare left and is nearly completely irrelevant to modern gaming. The only reason Sony doesn't make as much money is because they've always been about marketshare. When you see most of the biggest and most influential companies, they almost always value matketshare and long term health and mindshare over short term profit. Sony is doing fine though, they have been profiting the last few quarters, and they made 800m USD in profit last quarter. They were losing money due to restructuring costs as they were bloated company with many heavy earners cancelled out by divisions bleeding money. It's pretty much profit from here on out (devices/image sensors, insurance, music, movies, and games all make profit)
Nintendo has large cash reserves because they overprice hardware and software, and attempt to milk a small and dying core fanbase of drones of their money.
MS has money, but Xbox has overall lost money over the years, and a lot of those in the industry speculate that they may still be losing money. I wouldn't be surprised if Xbox is dissolved and there is no next gen Xbox, or if it's something very different to appeal to a new market.

I think just charging to play online is anti consumer in itself which ms is responsible for.
Sony tried to do free bc before with the ps3 and the consumer didnt care then. Ps4 doesnt have bc because of it. I dont know why all of a sudden people make a big deal of it when wii u had full bc day one. But when the xbox has it its supposed to be a good thing?
