The Wing Diver is easily my favourite class in 4.1, though. Best weapons, best gimmick, best look. I love the way they fly through the air, the subtle animations are great, and the trailing ponytail things.

You can have a blast in these games singleplayer but not all classes were created equal. The soldier's versatility make him far and away the best class on solo. Ranger is actually the weakest class, he's just easiest to use but skilled players will find him underwhelming.
Wing Diver is really powerful but fragile. Glass cannon type.
Air Raider needs a a teammate to be good yeah but he's really amazing with a team.
Fencer is actually the most powerful class. Extremely tough while being very fast and mobile with dash canceling and boosters. Most powerful weapons by far compensated by low accuracy and being hard to use. But if you do learn how to use them they're just amazing.
And don't even get me started on the special missiles used together with Air Raider markers.
