Not bosses, normal enemies.
In the first area, the villagers, dogs, crows, those things at the blood river, those old yharnam monsters are all from the main game. The only new enemy was the hunters and those huge beasts in front of the 2nd bonfire.
The second and the 3rd area were better but I still think that some enemies were unfair.
Like those huge fish wielding a weapon at the fishing hamlet. Tons of health and infinite stamina, something like the Drakekeepers from DaS2, only a lot more unfair since they had like 5k HP or more.
It was a good DLC but From could do better in some areas.

Make sure to remove any oath rune you have (covenant runes).
Before the expansion, you could only join 1/4th of all people if you used a covenant rune. Removing the green covenant rune grants you access to 4 out of 4 groups of players.
Not sure for the new Confederacy rune though. However, in my experience waiting outside Ludwig's place, wearing the confederacy rune got me summoned once every minute to five minutes.

I can't seem to find anyone to summon. Nobody sets up for Laurence because the lamp for this boss is the starting lamp for the DLC, and he is behind two hunters and a giant fat axe guy.
Not to mention, I doubt many others know how to get to Laurence without getting hit by the rolling fireball.

Base Bloodborne was pretty good, but it sucked how much of a boring, unfun slog the mandatory Chalice Dungeons were, and how required they were for good weapon gems.

At some point the Astral Clocktower is used to hide the village and Maria stands as it guard. Also Maria tries to kill herself at some point.

As you farm Chalice dungeons you are now rewarded with chunks and slabs/rocks as you go through it. Its more rewarding than before. You can rush dungeons in 5 minutes to farm chunks and gems easy now.
The DLC itself has high level gems so perhaps you don't need to use the dungeons for the DLC if you have a good weapon.

Yes I agree, although Amy Arm is better for Pure Str than it is Pure Arcane.
I made a Str/BLT build for the DLC after doing a couple of runs and it's a lot easier in comparison to my Pure Arcane and also my Dex builds. The Str lets you use the monster known as Whirling Blade which staggers the fuck out of everything. Then the BLT lets you use the Piercing Rifle which does high damage to multiple enemies at once [then switch to Evelyn for parries]. Then once you're at the end of the DLC you get a huge fast weapon so I'd advise giving it ago.

Played it at PSX. It's not as fast as Bloodborne but still faster and smoother than 1 and 2. It felt way easier. That could be because I have a lot of experience with the series so it came naturally or because a shield+more responsive controls just makes the game joke. Either way I didn't die once in the 10 minutes I played and the average was like 4 deaths.

there's a problem with this theory -- half of the Research Hall patients are literally begging for death. Keeping them alive in the Nightmare instead of killing them isn't an act of protection or mercy, it's an act of cruelty.
Personally, I think that the Research Labs were in Yharnam, hidden behind the Cathedral in the Upper Cathedral Ward, near the Lumenflower Gardens we see today. They had built the Astral Clocktower as a means of sneaking into the Nightmare without the aid of the Amygdalas or the patronage of a Great One, where they found the Fishing Village. It's power was sealed in the Nightmare when the Hunter's Nightmare was formed, so in Yharnam, I suppose that it's just a normal clocktower now
I think that Maria's pact with the Orphan was sealed by her suicide -- the Hunter's Nightmare is a reflection of Yharnam's sins, and that includes her own. The patients in the Research Labs that we see are reflections of what actually happened in Yharnam, and Maria is punishing herself by having them around. They're copies of the "real" ones in Yharnam, like the beasts and Winter Lanterns that are also present.

Well I don't know for sure if it's easier, it was a short demo after all. I was just cautious when entering a new area, separated enemies and engaged one on one, and fished for backstabs against stronger enemies. Most of the people I saw playing kept running into new areas and then would claim "so hard!" after getting gangfucked.
Either way it's definitely better than 2. There was only one time where I got ambushed by multiple enemies but I was given more than enough time to give myself space before they could push my shit in.
