After 80h in, I can't find any reason to continue. Main quest ending was a huge disappointment, and now after 2 of main factions destroyed i only have endless quests left with minutemen. I already found every weapon and armor very early on so there's no point in exploring the world anymore. Same thing happened with Skyrim, there just isn't enough content to keep the game interesting.
>>
i'm waning at 60 hours, i haven't even done the quest after you first rescue that Synth dude (i don't even know his name).
since i'm sneak i take my time at everything, so it takes me probably twice as long.

i feel like more could've been done with this game on an interactive level.
once you beat it, settlements should turn into hotbeds that you actually have to protect.
>>
I can't think of a single good reason why is there only so few armors and weapons? You get to see every single one of them in 20 hours and after that it's pointless even to look at other stuff.
>>
>>319279424
I feel this, I was dissapointed in the lack of melee and unarmed weapons too, albeit the mods were alright.
However for a next gen I really thought they would overload shit like this
>>319279140

I've re-rolled about 6 character, specialising in different things, that keeps me spicy, however fucking tedious it is, but I give them all different quirks or set guideline
>>
>>319279596
I have thought something like this too, i'd really like to play as total asshole, but the only way to do that is murder random people because there really aren't any bad guy quests like before.
>>
>>319279846
Just spam the asshole dialogue and see what comes from it, you can be like the Drifter Cynic or something.
Get all your companions to hate you, leave you, then kill them and maybe eat them???
It is an actual shame you can delve into the Raiders or Gunners faction
>>
Lost interest at about 15 hours, ridiculous story, lazy graphics, no challenge at all, got 32GBPS trade in at cex yesterday and then went and got just cause 3 for 44 at asda. I know I made the right choice when I did this about 15 minutes in https://youtu.be/x0Ykh0FogAw
>>
>>319279140
How the fuck did you make it beyond 10h is beyond me.
>>
>>319280208
It had few good quests like Silver Shroud and before i knew it has so few weapons exploring was actually fun despite all of the games flaws. That main quest is just plain stupid.
>>
I just spotted that people are using the same language they use towards MMOs as they do towards single player RPG experiences.

How does it feel to know that MMOs have not only wasted your time but destroyed any possibility you may have had of enjoying videogames every again?
>>
>>319280701
But I haven't ever enjoyed MMOs and only tried them for a brief moment. The thing with Bethesda games is that every new entry feels like it has less content than previous title.
>>
>>319279424
Because of the weapon customization system, I think. The logic is that since the player can customize their own weapons there doesn't need to be as many resources invested in uniques. I think.

I don't know about armor, because armor customization is very limited
>>
>>319280769
It's almost like it's an MMO or something.
>>
>>319279140
Did you expert anthing more?
>>
>>319280794
That logic is incredibly flawed in that it opens the door for unique customisations with ultra-rare modifications and they didn't experiment with it.
>>
>>319279383
>since i'm sneak i take my time at everything, so it takes me probably twice as long.

i'm playing on survival as a sneak build. sometimes i feel like putting the difficulty on the lowest setting and putting an auto receiver in my .308 combat rifle and just blowing through the game.

besides whatever content is left in the main story quests, i feel like i've seen it all now. and combat, while slow, is basically come to sneak attack one shotting everything with my .50 hunting rifle now
>>
>>319280398
Didn't make it to Silver Shroud, but I did watch it on youtube? What exactly was the good part of it, that your character can badly voice act as a pretentious fuck in few lines? It's just another go to a x collect z kill y quest. Almost every quest is a fetch or kill quest.

One thing I did find fun was going around with Valentine, until I did the freedom trail quest and that dumb bitch Desmond asked me if I know what a synth is and if I would die for one while Nick was standing behind me.

The game is completely fucking retarded.
>>
>>319280794
But it doesn't cater to people who want to find weapons. I was forced to put perks in gun nut, armorer and even science and after a while i had best weapon in game and again, no point in looking other stuff. I wish the game had something like enchanting in TES series to make it more fun, but it's too much to ask.
>>
>>319281116
> I wish the game allowed me to manufacture my own weapon mods.
see; >>319280940
>>
>>319281212
Didn't see that before posting, i hope they even try to improve it with dlc's.
>>
How long do the story quests take? I'm at 60 hours and i have finished all the side quests I have come across. I'm on the quest where the dog is sniffing out Kellog.
>>
>>319279140
I played it for 10 hours when I noticed that every quest is just "go to place X, kill dudes" or "go to place Y and pick up Z (optional: kill dudes)" and the most variation for the quests is that you occasionally get a choice what dudes to kill that are right next to each other.
Also none of that appears in the ending.
I just want a Fallout game, not Call of Duty: Minecraft Edition.
>>
How disappointed were you about the main quests ending and the fact that NOTHING you do matters, the video is totally same with every choice and only minor changes apply to the world after that.
>>
>>319280794

doesnt really work though since weapon upgrades are entirely linear

i've seen bethfags argue that theres "literally thousands of weapons" in fallout 4 due to customisation options. it doesnt hold up tho because every weapon either has linear upgrades or a second path of upgrades beginning with an automatic receiver

take the hunting rifle for example, every upgrade is an improvement upon the last, there is literally no reason to put the bottom choice on each list into your gun. the combat rifle is the same except if you want an auto rifle(for some retarded reason) you take the lowest auto receiver in the list, and the recoil stock instead of marksman, and if youre playing with a controller you dont use the telescopic sights
>>
It's not an RPG. Took me about 40 hours to realise that there was no need to specialise into anything, and my heart broke a little. Call me an elitist twat, but a large part of what a game IS is what a game ISN'T. If you aren't good enough to do something, or didn't spec into it in an RPG, you don't get to do that thing. Not up to snuff on energy weapons? Your gauss rifle is going to perform terribly. But in FO4, everyone can do everything and that pisses me off.
>>
>>319281116
>I was forced to put perks in gun nut, armorer and even science

mate i hope you're playing on PC so you can respec with the console commands

taking those perks, unless you want them for building pointless bases that never get attacked by anything significant, is an utter waste.

>you dont need any perks to create the most basic mods in every category for any gun
>similarly, you dont need perks to attach any mods of any level to a gun
>mods you remove from a weapon get stored in your inventory for later reuse

so, lets say you're lucky or persistent like i was, and you find a fatty hunting rifle that does double damage on first hit, BUT it was set up like an obrez when you got it and you have no crafting perks. bummer right? well no. because as soon as you get to the level where you can unlock the perk to craft a silencer for example, it will also start spawning on found weapons and buyable weapons.

so you have this shitty obrez with an amazing legendary effect, and then you find a hunting rifle with the .50 receiver, marksman stock, ported long barrel, long scope, silencer, large quick eject mag. so you take the rifle with all the mods, and a bunch of steel and glue, to a bench, and you replace all the nice mods with the garbage no perks required rank 1 mods, and put the nice new mods on your legendary obrez, turning it into the best gun in the game

so yeah, crafting perks are useless bullshit
>>
>>319282480

this also works for armor btw

on the plus side, playing this way lets you take more combat perks earlier and it makes looting much more interesting. i mean you're never gonna find a gun like in the example i gave, at most you'll find 3 top mods on a gun. i'm still looking for a quick eject large mag for my companions .45 combat rifle and i have about 80 hours on the clock

I think that's only artificial way to add length to that game.

>>319283410

it doesnt add any significant length, if anything it lets you optimise your build for combat perks faster. it just mean you can actually give a shit about the weapons you find beyond what they weigh and how much they'll sell for
>>
>>319282028
>Call me an elitist twat,
No, you're just a retard if you want to seriously argue that this game is somehow not a rpg. Call it shit if you want, but don't go changing definitions.
>>
>>319283746

when your FPS RPG has worse shooting mechanics and RPG elements than Deus Ex 2, its probably better to not draw attention to it tho
>>
>>319279140
Well yeah, it's pretty much just an open world shooter and not much of a rpg, it's actually nice that it can still keep your attention for that long
>>
>>319283746
It has rpg elements, sure, but it's primarly a fps

80 hours is a good run bruh
>>
>>319279140
Fuck, why don't you just roll a new character.
>>
>>319280164
you could've done this in 2 and online for far less than that, lad...
>>
>>319284367
Because every character has the same backstory and lack of dialogue options.
>>
>>319279140
Threadly reminder that after 80 hours of New Vegas there is literally nothing left to do and you would be excited to find some bloatflies to shoot at with your tricked out grenade machine gun.

Threadly reminder that after 200 hours of Fallout 3 you will still find new things to do, new Easter eggs and items and can still get in hairy and challenging fights.

Yet /v/irgins will praise New Vegas for the same thing they'll pillory FO4 for.
>>
>>319285005
Wait, you actually managed to play Fallout: the metro roamer for more than 200 hours?
>>
>>319285005
I agree with the NV thing but even if you somehow did have the autism to put 200 hours into the shitfest that is 3, you wouldnt get near the same amount of satisfaction as 200 hours into NV.
>>
>>319285005
I've played NV for 400 hours.

There's way more stuff to do in NV than FO3.
>>
>>319285005
>hairy and challenging fights.
>200 hours

did you manage to not get the perforator, chinese stealth armor and jingwei's shock sword after all that time? you must be a real tard

Wait for mods and dlcs. It's always pointless to play bethesda games at the release, they already know the game is gonna be improved by mods and in minor part by their own dlcs(that get shittier and shittier, like the boring skyrim ones) so they produce the laziest game content you can possibly concieve for the first release.
>>
>>319287236
>boring skyrim ones
dragonborn is superior to most DLC ever released
>>
>>319284692
Don't be jel babes, I know it's a hard pill to swallow that I played fallout 4 for 3 pounds a week then swapped it for an actual fun game but we can't all be savvy consumers like myself.

I've obliterated 2 btw. Don't you like getting new games?
>>
>>319279140
I think the worst part of this game is that you can't really play the bad guy, so replaying it for the story is pointless, it's only worth to try new perks and playstyles. And even if you use it the sarcastic or pissy responses, it doesn't change the fact that you're gonna end up helping everyone and save the world. You can't even join evil factions, the best thing that comes close to that is the institute, but i've heard that even that is a disappointment. The only way to have some sort of control in the story is charisma, since the science/hacking ecc. dialogue checks like in new vegas are not there anymore, but even then most of the times it serves only to make more caps and making quests easier. I hope the next elder scrolls won't be like this otherwise the bethesda games are pretty much dead.
>>
>>319279140
Great! Now is the time to stop playing and go play other games for about six months. Thats right, stay away from F4 for about six months.

Do you understand the life cycle of a Bethesda game?

>Make character
>Play game to completion including all side missions
>Make another character if you want, different focuses, different choices in the storyline
>Get bored, stop playing for about six months
>After six months, revisit. Look for gameplay and storyline mods, as well as total conversion mods.
>Play until bored.
>Rinse, repeat.

This is how people are still playing Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and New Vegas after all these years. The things the modding community has been able to do with these platforms is nothing short of astounding.
>>
what bothers me is how the game goes from being ass-tagging difficult to retard simulator easy, it's like the game is telling you "yeah the engine is shit, play on survival and power armor is for cunts"

maybe it's rifleman, that shit is whats making me OP.

I'm confused as to why, after 80 hours you're disappointed OP

most games are 1/10 that if even.

I've not played it but I'm sure some of those 80 hours were fun, no? Why not just accept it's not an infinite magnus opus you were expecting and find something else to kill the meaningless moments between cradle and grave.
>>
>>319284205

Compared to New Vegas, which you can play for hundreds of hours before doing everything? No it isn't.
>>
>>319285005

>there is literally nothing to do

Been playing Fallout NV for 76 and I'm still only on the House Always Wins IV. Then after tha I'll an NCR playthrough, a Legion Playthrough and an Anarchy playthrough, with each quest giving me multiple ways of resolving it, so it will be different each time. Oh, and then there's the DLC.
>>
yea I put in straight 100 hours and theres very little to do

one of the worst games I have ever played and I want my time back
>>
The game just lacks REAL settlements. You have Diamond City and Goodneighbor and that's it. It also lacks dialogue. The interactions with your companions are just too sparse. You get about 4 good conversations and a lot of the companions don't even have personal quests.
>>
>80 hours in
I saw how empty and boring it was early and dropped it after 7 hours.
Too bad I wasn't fast enough so I could refund.
>>
I have to decide between BoS and The Institute. I'm doing other quests first but anyone let me know if I'm further?
