How did Konami fall so far?

I fail to see the problem with Now.

Love Plus dev also fired, though

Haven't dating sims been around for awhile? I'm an American and not a weab so I don't keep tabs on it, but its been a genre for at least 15-20 years I think.

But yeah it sucks that Konami doesn't care about games anymore and has looked on to other business ventures.

Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear and Goemon are some of my favorite franchises of all time. Konami is my favorite 3rd party developer of the 8 and 16 bit eras. But times change, apparently gaming doesn't make them as much as gyms and slot machines do anymore. Can't fault them for doing whatever they need to to make a buck. At least we still got about 25-30 years full of fan-fucking-tastic games out of them.

Love Plus was made to fix Japan's low birth rate, it worked somewhat.

Loved Twinbee, Penta & Parodius.
>>319272748
No, this is then.
>>
>>319272795
Most of their good staff now work for Good Feel.

The rest work for Treasure.

>Love Plus was made to fix Japan's low birth rate

I fail to see keeping men even more occupied with imaginary women will help their birth rate. They need to make real life women more attractive.
>>
>>319273014
Well it is a dating simulator, maybe they hoped it would work like flight simulators.
>>
>>319272304
The reason was because Love Plus wasn't brought to the West. How you could deny such a massive weeb market?
>>
>>319273014
Love Plus was a tool made in the wake of Brain Age, I don't see a reason why no IOS/Android version was made at 30-40 bucks seeing that real games (not FTP shovelware) do exist on IOS/Andoid and it's all menu based so do don't need pin point button presses.
>>
>>319273232
No, the US & Canada has a healthy birth rate, Japan needed it where boy are the most horny which is in high school so Konami made a tool for them to pick up girls with their DS.
>>
>>319272748
This.
Love plus is a pile of shit compared to Tokimemo.
You have to fucking strive to get action in Tokimemo, and you have more variety.
LP is literally easy mode: the dating sim. Doesn't even have bombs. What a crock of shit.
>>
Kojima is a moneywasting dev
>>
>>319272748
They got shit on for Tokimemo back in the day, too. Hell, they got shit on for Xexex.
>>
>>319273786
Tokimemo is a straight dating sim when Love Plus is a tool made for high school boy looking for girls that was made to fix Japan's low birth rate.
>>
>>319272304
it's an issue with there buyer base
When the lion share of Jap "gamers" want VNs to emotionally and physically fap to it's very hard to pitch over exposed markets that wont do well unless you put T&A in it and if you are doing that just save the money and make a VN
>>
>>319273968
Maybe they should fix their economy if they want a higher birthrate.

Yeah but you still get a girl even if you don't date anyone. Tokimeki a shit, Sentimental Graffiti is where it's at.

That game's OP is like some kind of weird abstract performance art.
>>
>>
>>319274041
The US needs it more.

Still after that TGA 2015 thing with Kojima they are still too incompetent to do such a thing, at least they no longer shove people in pachinko plants.

Okay, now that several people have mentioned this game ITT, I'm genuinely curious about it. I'm gathering that its some kind of cross between Tinder and a videogame designed to get teenage boys to impregnate real life female players of the game to save Japan's declining birthrate or something? How does that work?

When I purchased the PS1 version of 2nd Mix more than fifteen years ago, I never would have known that I'd still be playing Beatmania today.

It's weird to see this series live on while so much else has died.
>>
Oh, and I thought Tokimeki 3 was a pretty cool game, even if TM2 was more light hearted. Never did get around to trying TM1.
>>
>>319275967
Is the OST out yet?
>>
>>319276061
3 kinda has a bad rap because if you come to it from 1 and 2, like most players would have at the time, it really feels like it's trolling you.
>>
>>319276253
Nah, the game just came out 11/11. Give it a couple of months or so for the official release. I'm not sure how long it takes for lineouts to surface, but that should come sooner if I recall how it has happened before.
>>
>>319276328
Huh, interesting. I'll have to replay it sometime in the future. Probably 90% of the text flew over my head at the time and I have forgotten the other 10% by now.

I'm intending to replay some old shit once I feel like my Japanese is at least N2 level. It's getting there.
>>
>>319274427
No just get them together in the long run.
