I only ended up playing 5 games on it, 2 of which were ports/remakes. And I feel a little ripped off by Sony's propriety memory.
If you don't already have a 3DS, I recommend you buy one of those first, the library is way more varied and (in my opinion) better quality.
But I'm not too salty because I'm not poor, and hopefully I can turn the Vita into an emulation machine once the CFW is sorted for it.

You do need to buy a memory card since it only comes with 1 GB built-in which is definitely not enough. I've done fine with the 8 GB though I don't keep more than ~6 games on it at a time. And Gravity Rush isn't compatible, it relies way too heavily on the touch screen/back touch pad and motion controls. I think you can force the PSTV to play it anyway but it'd be a hellish experience.

Upwards of 20 from that last, the vita actually has a solid library, its just the state of the handheld industry in general is dying, yoshida said the climate of handhelds isn't healthy and he is exactly right. The bottom line is though the vita has games, it has supports and even some of it's upcoming dualplats with PS4 are vita ports and should still count as games. The vita is a pretty good handheld but you aren;t going to see it that way if you've put yourself in a position where you don;t want to be convinced.

These games pushed sales a LOT and Sony were stupid as shit and did not even come close to competing for a while. Do you remember that dark age where literally the only Vita exclusive game worth owning was Persona 4: The Golden? Over time they released more games but none of them had the brand name impact that the 3DS's releases had and it was already too late. Despite me loving the hardware to death, Sony went full retard with the lack of major game releases at such a crucial time in its initial launch and fucked up the reputation of the Vita beyond belief.

God damn that was such a stupid move. I remember watching the E3 trailers for upcoming games and how they were hyping shit like God of War Collection and Uncharted on Vita. I knew it would just be watered down shit that doesn't belong on a handheld but they insisted on getting worse versions of triple A shit on the Vita for the first year and making a real bad impression. The Vita library is way better now but those first two years seriously destroyed public opinion of the Vita irreparably.
The only way I'd recommend a Vita is if someone had PS+ for PS3 and nabbed everything for the Vita ever since IGC came to it, since that's quite a lot of decent games.
I'm still confused as to why people prefer the 3DS' UI over the Vita's.
