There is no good reason to have a game be exclusive nowadays since in terms of architecture the platforms aren't that different any more and nobody writes his own engines any more anyway, so "porting" is often done by mere recompiling with a different target platform.

My problem with Bloodborne is that it isn't very much fun to replay.
They condensed skills into:

And Strength and Skill almost feel the same, just different speeds
Arcane and Bloodtinge are interesting, but it's disappointing that between this and the Dark Souls 2 nerfs, it's almost impossible to play any of these games as any kind of a mage, or anything interesting.
That being said, it's still a great game, just not really good for more than one playthrough

It's a simple fact. Bloodborne is an IP owned by Sony. Sony comissioned From to make them a game, with the help of Sony's first party studio, Studio Japan (who makes amazing games by the way).
It's an exclusive because Sony owns it. Sony will make more PS4 money by having it remain an exclusive.
There is literally no other reason. Nobody is trying to fuck anyone over, it's just Sony wanting a From game. Demon's Souls has the same issue, and is the reason From had to change the trademark name to Dark Souls in order to multiplat it.

I have a ps4, I've played and loved bloodborne and I still ask this question, the answer doesn't really bother but in this day and age having exclusives at all just seems like an odd choice, Sony must have really sweetened that deal.

It's not hard to understand. Instead of wasting time and money on optimising it for multiple cards, you can just do it for one, two or three. This also means there's less sacrifices to be made for the overall result, as you could very well lose a lot of money developing with the best card in mind, because you don't know how many of those people will buy the game. Chances are most devs look at the most popular card based on Steam's DB and determine if they should focus on developing around that. I know a lot of people blame consoles for us having shitty looking games and such (me included), but how many people do you think own a 970 or something stronger? More than 20 million?

FROM has had a preference for working with Sony in the same way that Hideo Kojima does. PC is not as a massive market in Japan. Furthermore, Sony funded it, they have all the right to decide whether it gets a PC release or not. As it stands, Sony has a benefit for keeping the IP on PS4 due to the market amongst consoles becoming more competitive. This is unlike the PS2 era, where games were commonly released for both PS2 and PC, because Sony was the dominant force and didn't really have much competition back then. Now PC is in direct competition with Sony as much as Xbox is.
Sorry, that's just the reality of it. You are only suffering because of your loyalty to one platform and really only have yourself to blame.

Almost agree. I think the Wii U is great, and has a lot of potential, but their hardware leaves too much to be desired.
The PS4 is alright, it fits in to the market pretty fucking well and serves to provide a bunch of different games to people that don't have high-end PCs.
Xbone is pretty much just there for Xbox players to have something and refuse to move on from. It's slowly improving though.
With all that said, I'm never against getting more good games on PC, even if I do hate the community 90% of the time.

It's probably because they made a deal with sony to make a game for them. In making this deal they probably considered the fact that people tend to like a choice of console, but found that the money sony was offering as well as the ease of not having to deal with multiple versions for different types of architecture was enough of a boon to keep it exclusive.
It's a shame, as I'd have loved to play the game on PC, but it was sadly not meant to be. Money goes first in an industry, and this was a source of income for them.

"kiddie games" is exactly what I appreciate about the console. It's keeping classic design styles to provide something very few people can these days. It's great to have that variety, and those games should continue to exist being developed by people that aren't indie-devs riding the current fadwave. If they don't appeal to you, that's fine, but they're not bad games.

Jumping to the next generation is a big leap, especially for small to mid-level developers. From learning the new hardware to creating bigger/better art assets for it. It's expensive and very time-consuming, so Sony saying, "we'll straight up give you our in-house dev team and they'll help you make whatever you want" is a very attractive deal. The fact they rely on gimmicks so often is evidence of that. I think they'd be better off developing their games on a different platform for sure, but there is still potential they could pull something off. If they can develop a console that outperforms their competition, they'd definitely get some attention. The issue after that would be trying to get the multiplat support so people aren't restricted to their exclusives. Which is something I don't really see them doing, especially knowing they'll throw in a gimmick that devs will have to consider working with.

Mario Maker is pretty good, 3D World was fun for a bit (I didn't play it solo though), MK10 was also alright. Don't really care for Yoshi's Wooly World.
Again, I don't think they're bad games by any means, even if they don't appeal to you, that isn't the case. They're clearly well designed, and offer a higher quality version of what others attempt to offer.
Plus, stuff like Bayo 2, MonHun, Hyrule Warriors and Pikmin 3 are all pretty good.
