What would you buy /v/?
>>
>>319237991
how the fuck would I know?
Obviously the best deal I could find after couple hours of intense research.

Plus how the hell would I even get "forced" to buy a fucking pre-build? Would a custom build assembled by a store be OK?

Why are you even thinking this kind of bullshit?? What, you're tech-illiterate and want suggestions?

Here's my suggestion: i5 + 8GB DDR3 + GTX 950 + 450W 80+ Bronze PSU + W7 Ultimate x64
>>
Did you even think before you made this thread?

Alienware, just buy the most expensive one on their website and you'll be fine. I'd recommend getting a laptop too if you can since it doesn't matter if you get a laptop/desktop from them, same performance for you price, but in addition to mobility.

decided to check out pre-builts gaming pcs on newegg because of this thread and i find it funny how all the listed pcs don't have the gpu in the title

they list the ram, hard drive, and cpu, along with a bunch of other meaningless letters and numbers but leave out the most important part of the pc. probably to confuse people like op
>>
>>319239860
750ti 2GB can run motherfucking GTA5 at 35fps average on 1080p + Very High pre-sets. Witcher 3 on Medium at ~30. GTX950 is around 30% stronger than that, so yeah, it will fit a rookie PC gamer's needs quite nicely.

And the best thing with both cards? They are very low-power, and take their energy out of the PCI-E port alone.
>>
>>319240339
amd 270/370 is better for the same price
>>
>>319240327
that's how they roll.
I've seen Amazon have some "gayming PCs" with rad made up names, that pack tons of RAM and huge HDDs, but have mediocre at best CPUs, and total joke GPUs (like GT 730).

Just spend the extra 100 bucks or whatever to get a decent card. If you can max out most games now, you can compromise later down the road. If you have to compromise now, you'll barely be able to run new games in 3 years.

Now if OP plans on doing nothing but league, then don't worry about a card at all. Just buy a cheap laptop and mouse.

I'd man up and build a PC, because you're going to get a piece of shit that you'll regret ever buying. 600$ will get you shit old parts stuffed in a maybe decent looking case. Stores will say that this can "run" games like Witcher 3 and Fo4, but what they don't tell you is that's on the lowest settings and capped to 24 FPS.
Stop being a pussy and build one. It's not hard, and if you look around enough you can get good deals on windows 7 copies so you can afford a better card. There are a bajillion videos on youtube that hold your hand through the process.
If you aren't a retard and you can put screws in a board then you can do it.

You still dont get it

Youre not answering the question if you change the parameters of the question.

There are two types of questions: questions that ask for the best possible solution available (what youre trying to do) and questions that ask for the best possible situation within a set of parameters. The point of this is to engage in a discussion that involves research you might have not considered before.

OBVIOUSLY BUILDING YOUR OWN PC IS CHEAPER THAN GETTING A PRE BUILT. Literally everyone knows this. But by ignoring this stipulation you're stripping the conversation of its value entirely

well I actually did look around some sites. the best I could find was an alienware or steam machine with a generic "nvidia gtx graphics card"

so its just an integrated card.

at that point it may not be worth even getting since you'll basically have a slightly better console. maybe a slightly better resolution and textures and maybe framerate, but for PC gaming it's ironically overpriced.

I'm sure building one with old parts would come out cheaper and you might even get better performance.

That's been my experience as well when looking at prebuild "gaming" computers. I don't understand why a company hasnt popped up that offers a decent prebuilt gaming PC that just slaps $100 on the top for branding/manufacturing etc. Obviously they get the parts for cheaper than you would if you were buying just one of each, so they should be saving enough money to only add a modest premium to the cost of the machine.

I would at least get a decently speced prebuilt with good cpu/ram quanity and ignore gpu honestly.

Then get a gpu later for it, like a 950/750ti.

Anything with a somewhat decent gpu will near 800-900 range in general for prebuilts, but you could find a computer with an i7, 8-16 gigs of ram, and at least a terabyte hd for around 600. I would make sure it had a card already (but your pretty much guaranteed at least one 16x slot usually) but it would be a POS.

You won't get it all at that level, best to get a good base unit at least and build up to "not so shitty" then get shit all the way and compromise on everything.

This way you could just buy a 100-150 dollar card every few years and stay in it somewhat, getting a dual core or amd would be a waste.

http://www.costco.com/Lenovo-H50-Desktop-%7c-Intel-Core-i7-%7c-2GB-Graphics.product.100230172.html

Something like that would be a good base.

It was my point that you would get crap in one area, and the best one to take it in is the gpu frankly.

You wouldn't believe the markup on parts, especially for "gamer" branded crap.
I mean you could get a prebuilt on newegg with a 950/750 from ibuypower, or abs like

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883102038

And it wouldn't be bad, but I would rather get an intel cpu for gaming, but in reality at that level the cpu won't really bottleneck anything.

It's all up to you, thats really the only other system I could vaguely recommend.

Yeah, i've never owned an amd processor, but assuming the processor's gud that build looks like a decent starting point for me.

What was that big fiasco about the gtx 960 about? Something about intentionally reduced video ram or something?

I mean it's not great, but a ton of people build with it because its so cheap and offers 6 cores.

It would provide a semi decent 1080 experience, but there would be slowdowns in newer games.

You would still need a better gpu in a year or two though, so either way you would need to upgrade eventually.
And graphics cards are literally the easiest thing to change, almost 100% retard proof as long as you follow simple directions.

You're trying too hard to paint this guy as underage. With your bad grammar, bad spelling, choice of '14' as the go-to 'underage' age, I think it's fair to assume you're about 16-18 years old and just built your first computer.

This actually looks better and would last substantially longer.

Both have a shit psu by the looks of it though, one thing most prebuilts really skimp on.

If I HAD to buy a pre-built gaming PC I would look for a used workstation on ebay with a decent GPU in it.

Here is one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Z800-Workstation-Xeon-Six-Core-X5675-3-06GHz-12GB-500-HD-QUADRO-4000-/191753024640?hash=item2ca55ef480:g:tgsAAOSwZVhWS-o~

HP z800 workstation. These are really solid and amazing machines. I'm typing this from one right now.

My z800 had a Quadro 4000 in it when I got it and it will do the job for playing modern games. It got me through Dark Souls and Ground Zeroes before I upgraded to a GTX 960.

When you're buying a prebuilt you should look for reliability and upgrade-ability first. So many "gaming" desktops are pieces of trash made from the cheapest of the cheap. You're better off buying on the used market.
