Squeenix is playing is trump card after a series of lackluster games, forced waifus, unnecessary HD remakes, and failure to manage projects.
Versus is getting flogged, finished and kicked out the door as XV after floudering in dev hell for upwards of a decade. This game was supposed to come out when the PS3 was still riding high.
The bulk of the HD remakes are either busted or mess with things for no reason. FF X and X-2 are broken out of the box for PS4. They screwed with the music for no reason.
Type-0 didn't need an HD remaster, but since they forced it on the west anyway, they should have fixed the busted camera and other issues.
They are floundering and they know it. FF7 was their splash hit in the west and they are betting lightning will strike the same place twice.

Versus was never in any full development, since 2006 to 2012 it was just a concept and never in full development, SE was busy with FF13, 13-2, KHBBS,Days, DDD, Dissidia, Dissidia 012, Type-0 during that time and no one was free to work on Versus, it was just a concept and it became XV in 2012 and it was on hold for that whole time, where some people only in 2010 managed to do some things during their spare time before it was put on hold again until 2012, it has only been in full development as XV when it got a budget, 200+ devs and a dev timeframe to release in 2016 since 2012 and hasn't slowed down since
FFX/X-2HD already got patched and they had both the remastered and the original music in them
Type-0 got a HD remaster because the fucking PSP was dead in the west and that was the best way for them to release it in the west because of how well PS4 was doing and actually make money from it, also so they could ship it with an FFXV demo for fans who want a taste of XV, the camera issues and motion blur issues were already fixed shortly after release too.
ARR is proving a massive success after the ditched vanilla XIV 1.0, and they have mutliple avenues bringing in profits
