This pisses me off, because even though Lucas hated the deconstruction of his universe and the grey morality of it all, he still used elements of it in the Clone Wars TV series. Especially when I came to overarching stuff like setting up the Republic to become the Empire and Anakin's growing distrust of the Jedi Order. That stuff come off as clumsy and poorly executed when compared to KotOR II.

kotor 1 is a good star wars game, but man kotor 2 is just a great game.

Well in the cases of Trokia and Obsidian, they were fucked by developers and studios.
Trokia was forced to release VtM:B ahead of schedule. Activision wanted it out ASAP, but Valve wouldn't let them release it until they officially released Source with HL2. Releasing Vampire the same day as Half Life 2 was sales suicide, Trokia knew this and had planned to release it two months after, spending the time bug testing and polishing. Activision had already spelt out Trokia's death after the contract ended and just wanted the game out so they could liquidate them.
Obsidian was fucked by Bioware, they were both working on the games at the same time, but Bioware wouldn't tell them what they were writing and that they would have to wait until release. Apparently this fucked up development at Obsidian because they couldn't settle on anything in case Bioware already did it. As for New Vegas, it made in a very short time with a bad engine. Even Bethesda can't iron out the bugs and they have development times of three to five years minimum.
Bethesda command a lot of power at Zenimax, so I don't think these issues would plague them. I think they know they can just get away with it.

As shit as the prequels are, it is kind of interesting to go back and watch them through the lense of Kreia's teachings. The Jedi are apathetic and distant, the only time they're really charitable is when they can use others to help them. Palpatine appears evil, but through his purging of the Jedi, he does manage to bring stability to the Empire, not to mention that the corruption the Republic allowed to exist is much less prominent in the Empire.
