There are pros and cons to this.
Pros:
- We get to begin playing it sooner since they don't have to complete the entire game before release.
- Less likely that content will be cut for the purposes of rushing the product out the door.
Cons:
- Have to pay multiple times for a game that was always a single title.
- If this proves successful, and it will because its FF7, we're going to see more and more of this shit from square in the future.

Well, we already got Vincent and Yuffie as forced companions and no longer optional. Now, that decision makes sense. This isn't going to be a game, it's going to be an episodic series. No more exploration, no sidequests, very little of the original game will be left. The chances of there even being a World Map anymore in an episodic product are slim to none.
And just like that.
Persona 5 is the game I am looking forward to the most.

Under the hypothetical that quality is ensured, then I agree. But that's a big if. Because if it was one full game, and we wanted to keep the integrity of the original story, we're looking at a fucking 2018 release if we're really lucky, and they work their asses off with no critical issues. Probably more like 2020 realistically.
However, if they do it in parts, they can release at a fairly frequent rate, and string people along. The start of the game to leaving Midgar could probably be completed before the end of 2016, with development up to say, Nibelheim from there by the end of 2017. This is saying without cut content also.
It's absolutely going to be way more fucking pricey than a normal $60 game, which is horseshit, but if I can get a full FFVII remake experience, and not have to wait half a decade or longer to do so, I might be okay with this spending more money.
