Play through the game once before going back, because some of the challenges and optional areas are only possible with end-game abilities. Once you start to unlock some of the heavier combos and have a grasp on both magic, the game becomes okay.

Loved it desu, not your typical castlevania but it has some great things to offer

Around Ch. 3. Finished it yesterday.
Some chapters are boring and long as shit. There's levels that are only one puzzle.
The whole game has some unnecessary boss fights.
You are basically forced to use light magic all the time because the health recovery thing appears each blue moon.

The damage you take on Knight and Paladin are bullshit, that forces you to use light magic.
I played only on higher difficulties and did 110% because of trophies.

Who cares? I never understood the demand for it. It wouldn't live up to anyone's expectations, and either way it's basically business as usual for the Belmonts and Dracula except he dies for real this time.
We know most of it already, and it's not like the specifics of plot have ever been Castlevania's strength.
