The plot actually achieves what the back of the box promises: "To know the light, you must see the dark." In other words: Only he who knows the dark side may find his way to the light. I think that this way of coming to the light side to the force is a bit more three dimensional than just being good by default, without having to overcome much negativity.

Probably because it feels much more rewarding if you go through the start of the game with just weapons and some force powers, and then finally get that lightsaber instead of getting it from the get-go. It encourages you to diversify your playstyle, to use all the force powers and weapons you have instead of relying on your lightsaber for everything all the time. Stormtroopers etc. were a pushover in JA because hurr lightsaber and getting spammed with sith that could block, deflect or evade all your shots thus forcing you to use the saber got old pretty fast.

The Vader-Luke-Emperor stuff was amazing, I loved the Jabba palace stuff (even though it took a bit too long I think) and the reconciling with Yoda stuff was fun. I just disliked the Endor stuff, which was a lot of the film unfortunately.

Not that I can recall. There's a series of loose game adaptation Graphic Novels and a Star Wars Tales comic that he shows up in but that's pretty much the extent of it. Unless he cameos in the second half of the NJO that I didn't get around to reading.
