To be fair, D3 and Q4 are great games, but as a series entry, terrible. They should have been hectic action with a whole lot of enemies. Instead we got a horror FPS for Doom and a cinematic story Quake.
Didn't play Q4 but Doom 3 was just straight up boring. Doom was fun because it was a cool setting, great music and fast paced, balls out action. Doom 3 had absolutely none of that.

Doom 3 is a good game, honestly. It's full of sweet ideas and only fall short in a few aspect (some of the guns feel like peashooters, for instance) but Damn, it didn't feel like a DooM game.

D3 had a cool beginning. Spooky and shit. Only other good bits were chainsaw party bit and "pssst follow me" footprints. Even they didn't feel like doom. Just good atmosphere and spooks. I can't even remember anything from q4 besides strog surgery. Shows how "best" it is.
Doom 3 is one of my favorite games ever, but then again I prefer slow, atmospheric shooters instead of le gotta go fast speedrunning shooters.

I think all Doom games currently out there are good except for the phone game shit and anything on consoles. Doom 64TC and PSXTC are great though. And fuck shit like SNES/32X doom.

I liked Doom 3 for what it was, even though it certainly wasn't a Doom game. The engine was impressive and the game was entertaining. Quake 4 is different though, the state it was released in was complete shit. Movement was sluggish, weapons were unintuitive and the single player was boring as shit and the art style was boring. Painkiller was more of a successor than Q4. OP is full of shit.
