Valkyrie Profile 2 and the third Star Ocean game were both on the PS2, but they at the very least looked better than this. They didn't do amazing work, but it wasn't noticeably bad like this one is.

Overall it gives the appearance of a mildly creepy low quality doll rather than a person, which isn't helped by the plasticky skin tone.
Also the eyes are too high up which makes the bulging cheeks even weirder than they already are.

When you make anime-ish looking characters with realistic rendering methods they tend to look uncanny at a certain level.
Xenoblade chronicles is a good example of that.
