I really miss the old Paper Mario music. The jazz is fine, jazz is one of my favourite genres, but there was something special about the music of Paper Mario, PM:TTYD, and SPM. The classic, upbeat music you'd come to expect from Mario games mixed in with that odd, grindy techno touches made it familiar, yet unique. Sticker Star, on the other hand, just sounds like another Mario game, which contributed to how bland and routine it all was, as if the gameplay needed any help with that. I'm glad that M&L RPGS can at least have a similar sound scape while still coming up with new themes through all these years.
Even still, seeing Sticker Star Paper Mario in this game just turns me off so much that it's the deciding factor for my decision to not purchase it.

I'd really like to see a SMRPG remake. 3DS, Wii U, doesn't matter. The game's pretty dated nowadays and I've heard multiple accounts from people that played other Mario RPGs first having trouble getting into it. An updated artstyle and maybe a cleaner translation (the one SE did is a bit archaic and some Mario enemies/locales have wrong names) would fix that.
Though in hindsight I think fixing names might make some fans of the original mad.

But it also whows what I mean. This is very similar to a lot in Tropical Freeze and some of his revised DKC3 soundtrack for the GBA. That's not bad, having a recognizable and consistent style is just as much a sign of a good musician as having variety.
And so nobody thinks I hate ol' Grant, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie have fantastic soundtracks. Kirkhope is good at sppoky music, which he doesn't get to show off much. His stuff is usually very haunting and nostalgic at its best. And he's really damn good at jingles. Like, I don't know how he didn't have a job doing commercials.
