Tell me what's the point of this game, why would anyone play it?

Tell me what's the point of this game, why would anyone play it?
>>
>>318455351

You drive a truck. You play it if you want to authentically drive trucks.
>>
A successful delivery makes you feel like you accomplished anything, as in any video game. You enjoyed the journey, listened to live streaming radio from the country you're in and narrowly avoided totalling your rig.
>>
So you can see what it's like to drive drunk without actually hurting anyone
>>
>>318455535
But don't the collisions suck balls? How does multiplayer work?
>>
>>318455351
What's the point of any game? you end up wasting time anyway.
>>
>>318455535
I don't get it though, I feel like driving a truck for hours a day has to be one of the most boring jobs imaginable. Why would you ever want to simulate it?
>>
>>318456432
Some people just enjoy driving.
>>
Desert Bus got a sequel?
>>
>>318456432
Why would you hit mobs all day?
>>
Is this game worth $1.70 to just get drunk and intentionally crash into shit?
>>
Because it's an extremely comfy experience. Try it with an oculus rift/Steam VR, put on some music and just drive the time away without accidentally brutally murdering shit on your way because driving trucks in real life is awful.

I don't really get it myself, given you have to follow rules and trucks are slow. But then again I play DCS and I couldn't really explain how that's fun to other people either.

I'm actually debating whether to get it now that I have a proper FFB wheel just to see what it's like for myself.
>>
>>318455351
BECAUSE MOTHER FUCKING BIG TRUCKIN LITTLE BITCH
>>
>>318456543
But I drive all the fucking time in real life and it's not something I enjoy, it's something I have to put up with when I want to go somewhere
>>
>>318456648

My uncle is a retired truck driver. Talking to him, it sounds like a great job if you're a loner introvert.
>>
>>318456907
>But I drive all the fucking time in real life and it's not something I enjoy
Well then quit. Why the fuck would you want to devote your life to a job you don't enjoy.
>>
>>318456910
So we should become truck drivers?
>>
>>318457007
It's kind of hard to find a job in walking distance, anon
>>
I remember some comfy ass times 2am with a fresh pot of coffee and hotmix 80s playing. This game is ultimate comfy. Definitely top on my list to reinstall once I get my pc up and running again.

A bigger question: what is the appeal of Train Simulations? Why would anyone buy one of these? It's significantly less interactive than any other sim, you just go set the throttle occasionally, and pull the brake before your destination. How could this be engrossing?

I've thought about it, but it's going to be replaced by robots in our lifetime
>>
That's modded, right?

I can never get it to look that good
>>
Absolutely none. It started as a joke general on /v/ then /vg/, and some idiot took it seriously and non ironically played hours. It was actually quite sad.
>>
>>318457449

That's some nice opinions you got there, asshat

Might as well buy Train Simulator and all the DLC.

It started out as a joke on /v/ then people with autism and some Germans decided they actually like it. Nobody else understands and never will.

I don't know why, but the idea of a EuroTruck X Trackmania games just popped into my head.
Would anyone play that? How would that even work?
>>
>>318457885
Why? I didn't say that.
>>
>>318457609
I can even tell you they released it on steam because of some /vg/ steambeciles lobbied them to because "muh DRM".

I guarantee 70% of the ETS2 playerbase is made up of people who laughed at and scoffed at the thought of a game about driving trucks.

Then they start playing it and discover a magical game

245 hours here. Goddammit SCS software

Cheaper than real model trains, and doesn't take up as much space.

I, like everyone else laughed and scoffed too. But its actually very fun. Cant really explain it. Its not so much of a game, as it is put on your favorite playlist, or podcast, while sipping on your favorite drink and just explore Europe. Its actually quite meditative and relaxing. But anyway its not for everyone I suppose
>>
It's a nice, relaxing game to play while listening to podcasts or music.
>>
>>318458206
yup
>>
>>318458442
Not really, the realism angle kinda ruins it. It's wonderfully moddable though, you can freely set the NPC cars to weigh piss all and just punt then away like you're playing Midtown Madness.

Driving a 5000 hp truck with a modded gearbox and eurobeat blasting from the speakers has no right to be as entertaining as it is
>>
>>318458614
Yeah, count me in as well. I like to think that a decent part of the attraction is due to the good production values and the business tycoon aspect, those suck you in and keep you engaged until the game finds that zen-like autism in the corner of your brain and really taps into it.
>>
>>318455351
>comfy
>pretending you have a job while you wait for that stupid interview call

>It's wonderfully moddable though, you can freely set the NPC cars to weigh piss all and just punt then away like you're playing Midtown Madness.
That sounds like it's worth a few bucks.
Is it worth shelling out a few more for 2?
>>
>>318458273
>Cheaper than real model trains
>All DLC is $2447
LOL
>This is at 70% off.
I'm no train model expert but I imagine for for that kind of money you could get a pretty ballin' setup.
>>
>>318462179
>I'm no train model expert
It shows. 2447$ in TS16 would get you all the DLC. Which is what, 70 trains? 80? More even? That's a good deal, considering you should only buy the trains you like.

2447$ in real life? That would get you maybe 30 trains if you are getting simple models. You wouldn't be able to buy more than 10 if you are going for high quality setups, and depending on your favorite train you may not be able to buy even 5.

Autotragic detected.

Go to /o/ and have some sense knocked into you.
>>
>>318463006
Yes, but it would actually be impressive to have set up.
Nobody is going to be impressed with a train sim.
I remember thinking my Uncles train set was cool as fuck as a kid.
I don't understand why you would choose even 100 fake model trains over 10 real model trains
>>
>>318463626

Very very few people are going to be impressed with a train set in the first place. Let alone the fact that very very few people can tell the difference between a 900$ model and a 90$ knockoff
>I don't understand why you would choose even 100 fake model trains over 10 real model trains
Personal taste? Some people are in it for the collection. Others just like to admire trains, virtual or otherwise.

Cmon man. Cozy means different things to different people.
I want to build my dad a mitx or nuc build for playing train simulator for christmas, but he's retired and has a room in his place just for his model trains
>>
>>318464162
Collections are made to show off and cherish.

Even if you don't care much about trains you can appreciate a real set.
Nobody is going to look over your shoulder to see your virtual trains.

I can agree some people are retarded and have more money than they know what to do with however.
