Matthewmitosis is one of the few youtube shits I can stand because you never see the guy's face and he backs up his points with examples and admits that it's just his opinion, and tries to compare titles to their predecessors if they're in the same series and stuff instead of against a predetermined list of necessities.

Thoroughly underwhelmed. Linear level design. Poorly executed concept story (and I think the Doctor Manhattan sequence in Watchmen is fantastic, not because of the quantum physics, but the character himself). Fantastic world design and art style though.
I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, it's a solid 6-7 out of 10. But fucking hell was it disappointing. I thought it'd be a return to more System Shock style, ecosystem based gameplay, but instead it was a massive step away.

I was working at a vidya store when it released and got to check out a 'used' copy some crackhead traded in. I tried to keep my hype in check up to release but was still really pumped to finally play. I really enjoyed Bio 1/2.
Even playing for free I felt like the game was bland as fuck and a waste of time. It felt like they didn't know what direction to go, I barely branched out and used any powers or weapons and to top things off the game stopped auto saving almost halfway through since my 360's date was off.
Going back through a bunch of it and hitting the end just became a chore. The story had been done before and the only good thing to come out of it was Liz having a cute design.

Semi open environments, interesting setting, good AI that reacts differently to you, interesting weapons and powers, the story seemed completely different and cool and the bird thing was designed to be a what looked to be great boss fight. Elizabeth had cooler powers than just BOOKER CATCH as well.
But then they changed all of it. It seemed like a game quickly cut together from other pieces and while some were okay-ish, most felt like linear garbage. Was it done because of the story? Most likely, Ken Levine turned into a cunt. Was it done because they had no time/money left and had to put something out? Maybe.
But either way, the end result was a mediocre shooter and a huge disappointment.

The game was great fun but INCREDIBLY overhyped, getting amazing scores across the board whilst just being a strong decent 7. Many people who enjoyed the first two were severely buttblasted how simplified the combat was, with only two weapon slots and the silly glider rail gimmick that was cool for a whole two minutes before you realized it made the combat even more linear
My biggest complaint however is how much the story got praised, because that was the part of the game that was genuinely bad and where you could really see and feel the corners get cut as they rewrote it entirely at the last moment. It had glaring plotholes and while they had some really cool ideas about what Elizabeth could do during combat, she turned into this really obnoxious flow-breaking free health and ammo QTE... thing.

Limited resources, vending machines, enemies respawning when you leave section of map. Hidden rooms and goodies. Hackable cameras and turrets were a lot of fun, very satysfying if you manage to use them to kill enemies.
Twist was forgettable, like entire Jack's story, But learning Rapture's background was sweet. Travel "post apocalyptic" Rapture, destroyed by civil war, and recovering logs that put pieces in their places, untill you see entire picture.
