Well they have no real lore for the fanboys... they are pretty quirky (or at least were) compared to most races, and just have very unattractive features about them. The lore reason is a big one for a lot more people than you would think though. Wehn it's all said and done Gnomes are kind of assholes. They have been using the Dwarfs for far too long and have no real reason other than the raiding of Alterac to be at war with the horde.
