I can understand some things tough, like Yuka-Laylee, if only because publishers refuse to publish 3D platformers any more, and that game Iga is making, because Konami will flat out never make a non-pachinko Castlevania as so long the current president in still in power.

It plays well.
For it being the studio's first game (I think), it looks great to me. I like how the powers look and how Xel absorption supposedly restores weapon energy (from what I saw).
I know it's not pretty, but I like the gameplay. It's definitely different from MM, MMX, MMZ, and MMZX, but that's okay. Those games already received sequels (some received more than enough). I think it's perfectly acceptable to try something new.
Before you call me a shill and bullshit, yes, I backed it, but it let me play the beta. The special weapons aren't in, yet, and I'm really wondering how they will feel.

It's a good change of pace. My favorite series is MM Classic, but there are 10 of those, and I've been satisfied with the gameplay of the beta. I think it will be a good successor in its own right.
And it's not mediocre. The level design, from what I've seen, is good. I'm excited to see what speedrunners can do with it using the dash and the weapons.
