Like with the PS4. I don't play online games, so PS Plus doesn't affect me (and honestly its not worth it for a few indie games a month). It was the cheaper console out of the main 2 that would get worthwhile multiplats like GTA for example. Its not an overpriced gimmick unlike the Wii U.

I'd definitely take Playstation over Xbox. I've owned a PS2 and PS3, and just got a PS4. I only briefly owned a 360 which I played a grand total of four games on (Dead Rising, Tales of Vesperia, Ninja Gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden 2) before giving it away because I hadn't played it in two years, and the Xbone is a joke where the only game I'm remotely interested in is Scalebound.
I mostly play on PC though, and am a bit of a Nintendofag (although that's changing as they gradually get worse).

Nintendo's consoles have always had the most and best games within their generations. The PS1's only game was Castlevania: SOTN. None of its other games stand up anymore. Meanwhile the N64 had Super Mario 64, Zelda, Paper Mario, and Banjo Kazooie.
Looking back the PS2 isn't the great console everyone remembers it as being. I mean it had Dark Cloud, Ratchet & Clank, Shadow of the Colossus. That's really about it. Everything else was either on PC or just kinda sucked in retrospect. Meanwhile the gamecube had Melee, Kirby Air Ride, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, etc. The gamecube is probably the coolest "dark horse" console in gaming.
Gen 7, yeah let's just not talk about it. Total shitstain on the face of gaming. Every console sucked.
And in gen 8 clearly the only good library is the Wii U (pic related).
