I love Max Payne 1 and 2. They are just great games. The atmosphere is fantastic and holds up pretty well for how old it is. The comic book storytelling is 10/10. Would recommend if you never played them.

Is 3 worth playing?

The mood was awesome in the first one, but let's face it, the gameplay wasn't quite there yet. The third one overdid it a little I think, but the soundtrack was good, gameplay was top notch, and damn, those fucking animations.

3 is great and a lot of fun, but don't expect the same atmosphere as 1 and 2. It takes place in sunny ass Brazil instead of dark and moody Noir York.
I'd really recommend picking it up during the winter sale if anything.

From what I've heard the voice acting sets the mood alright but the environment kind of betrays it.

I'll keep an open mind, got 3 during a sale I think.
