It's more or less a solo RPG until 99, and even then some. This makes it arguably future proof for a smaller population and a good solution to 99 levels worth of leveling.

Not anymore. Joined up just before CoP came out; quit shortly after Abyssea finished up.
But I'll hang around 100% of these threads for the perfect Mithra.
I just started playing it about 3 days ago. Really enjoying it, reminds me of old fashioned mmos, but its more accessible than it probably was 10 years ago. Feels much better than any modern mmo.

Since I've come back i haven't solo leveled, leveling a job with Bst aoe powerleveling in Escha is easily the best way to get levels now. its like 1-99 in 2 hours

XI a pretty dead game, but the community is pretty close knit. You don't get that anymore with the newer mmos.
Never played XI. Didn't have a PS2 unfortunately, but... XIV has cute catgirls at least.
