Whoever does the video reviews for the site has the most soothing voice. Regardless of how right they are, their reviews are always simply nice to listen to because of how they're written.

Shane was/is an utter moron but his new site siftd.net is good as a news feed. Just don't EVER look at their reviews.
They score by categories (sound, graphics, multiplayer, story etc), then tally up those scores to make the final review score. But if a game has no multiplayer or no story it automatically gets a 0 in those categories and that affects the final score.
So a game like Super Mario Maker gets dinged points because it doesn't have a story. Or Witcher 3 loses points because it doesn't have multiplayer. It's fucking retarded.
Shane's excuse is "what if we don't lower the score for Mario Maker and then Mario Maker 2 gets a story mode? We'd have no room to give it a higher score". That's stupid, assumes that a story mode would make Mario Maker a better game and implies that every game in the world needs to have a base set of features.

They'd be perfect if they dropped the score system at the end. Their reviews are always well explained and I've never really had a problem with any of them.
They just moved offices and overhauled the site a few days ago; I had to disable adblocker because the new video player wasn't working. This is not an indication that they're dead, but it also doesn't change that they've been on the razor's edge for a few years.
I really hate this. It's the last vidya site I go to; it's been my surrogate EGM/1UP. In the past few years they've really stepped up their game in regards to shows, especially once that faggot Shane left, and their podcast got good once Marcus left too (though Brandon does talk too much and has shit opinions).
