I should probably also clear up that I, the guy who said undertale is trash, jumped into the conversation you were having with someone else. I don't think all console exclusives are bad purely because they're console exclusives, but every exclusive that's come out for the PS4 so far and has been announced except for Bloodborne looks absolutely mind-numbingly boring to me and not worth the console at all. Same with Xbone. My WiiU, on the other hand, fills my needs quite nicely with the 7 or 8 games I have for it along with my PC library of 300+ games.

I don't really plan on picking up MGSV because I really lose interest in the cutscenes and I feel like the story is too developed and convoluted for me to just jump in after only playing 2 and 3. That said, I recognize that it's just not my type of thing, but it's not a bad game.

The problem comes from people wanting video games to be glorified movies, like with MGSV. 4 HOURS OF CUTSCENES, and the fans still wanted more. They wanted Kojima to gut the remaining gameplay just to add more cinematics. Did you forget how long MGSIV was with the story? 8 HOURS OF CUTSCENES, NONSTOP. And I'm not sure if you undertand this, but that's kinda bad for a medium that's supposed to sell itself on being played and interacted with.

I have a simple system to tell me if a game is a COD Clone.
1. If it has guns.
2. If it has excessive violence.
3. If it's third or first person.
4. If it tries having "le realistic" graphics.
5. Gruff white guy as the main character
6. Focus is on the story, or linear hallway checkpoints.
Games can have some of these, but having ALL of them has become a blight on the entire shooter genre.

It's not a 1:1 clone of course, but it follows the dangerous trend of the franchise by making games about realism and voice acting and the spectacle instead of having substance, and considering that most of Metal Gear V feels unfinished, I'd say they spent a bit too much on the former.
