I liked it a lot as a kid too. Unfortunately my copy would always freeze at the same section and I could never finish it.

I still play it online with my friends every week. It has some issues like controlling like ass (as did every resident evil at that point) and the netcode never was good, (the last boss of file 1 shows that to the extreme) but I liked the feeling that you are literrialy survivors, you had low capacity for items and the zombies are some of the most danagerous in whole series.
I do think the game came to early however, the tech wasn't there for the multiplayer to be realiable.
