We've all come to agree this game isn't being made, right?
>>318307017
Sadly, yes.
But it is though
>>318307017
Ive given up on it ever being made years ago. time for the rest of you to move on as well.
How is it /v/ is always so collectively out of the loop when it comes to HL3.
Why do you guys just blatantly ignore recent announcements about it.
This whole board seems to be completely oblivious to anything that isn't spoonfed to them on /v/. If it's not posted here, it might as well not exist.
They are planning another Orangebox type package for the premiere of source engine 2. Likely to be included are HL3 and L4D3.
>>318307017
λaporeware
>>318308306
Didn't the Orange Box only include 1 new game out of 5 ?
>>318307806
Someone should do Half Life Update threads
Gabe is too busy making Sous Vide machines to develope HL3

post link
;)
>>318307806
you mean the update where gabe himself said they hadnt even started making it much less cared about it?
You think Valve spend millions of dollars and a lot of years developing Source 2 to NOT make HL3?
>>318309367
Yes other projects are taking priority right now
http://www.engadget.com/2015/11/25/chefsteps-joule/
>>318307017
it is being made retard. You think Valve is making Source 2 just for DOTA 2?
>>318307017
Yeah, they probably shelved it by 2011.
>>318309526
Source 2 is basically done tho
>>318307017
Gabe flat out said they aren't making Half Life 3 until they figure out a way to have it generate a long term stream of revenue via microtransations so even if it does come out it's probably going to be shit.
No. Of course it's being made you fool. When the game does release all of those who doubted its existence will be locked out of playing it.
On the day that Gabe descends upon us with HL3, it will be only the believers that get to enjoy it.
>>318308921
Orange box included the brand new TF2, Portal, and Episode 2, and the old hl2 and episode 1.
>>318307017
>We've all come to agree this game isn't being made, right?
I doubt that they are not working on it. What I doubt is that anything will actually come out of their work in any reasonable and relevant horizon.
>>318307806
It's not that people don't know, it's more that people don't give a flying shit. Because the recent "announcements" (really just completely marginal leaks) have been coming out regularly for... how long is it now? Eight years?
And most people here aren't dumb enough to think that Valve is not working on anything. People just stopped caring over the regular, meaningless leaks that actually give us NO fucking relevant information about when the game is going to come out and in what form.
>>318309573
No it's obviously for l4d3.
>>318309952
>HL3 Episodic
>pay for each episode or buy the whole season like telltale games
>divide it into several seasons
>profit
>>318310256
Valve said they are done with episodic games
>>318307017
Years ago, m8.
>>318310256
No, think more along the lines of TF2 hats and shit like that.
They already tried the episodic approach. Remember?
>>318310390
Nah they make a regular game but divide it into episodes for maximal profit
>>318310256
I don't think you understand what a microtransaction is.
valve doesn't even have a proper game dev studio anymore. The closest thing they got is a bunch of guys that shit out cosmetics.
>>318310620
You pay small increments to unlock more gameplay. If you guys dont like the revided episode structure why not follow the Japanese F2P model with limited playtime but pay moneys to get more and unlock things in the game earlier
Honestly i dont give a fuck about HL anymore I just wanna see how Source 2 ends up
>>318310853
This, the entire Valve studio has some sort of laissez faire method of production where people just do whatever the fuck they like.
Imagine the difficulty trying to rearrange the company back into a hundred man dedicated team. Everyone will fight to keep the current system of being paid to do whatever you like.
>>318309952
>Gabe flat out said they aren't making Half Life 3 until they figure out a way to have it generate a long term stream of revenue via microtransations so even if it does come out it's probably going to be shit.
That is actually not even remotely close to what he said.
Here is a different (and probably completely ungrounded) speculation: aside from working on Left4Dead3 which seems like the absolutely most logical short-term goal for them, they may have sunk a lot of time and money into revisting the old Prospero idea, possibly as a new evolutionary step for Steam.
>>318307017
Hopefully it's never made. The last thing we need is another shitty Valve game.
>>318311441
>>318310853
I think both of you HUGELY misunderstand how Valve really works. Like seriously, you are kinda clueless. Valve is not just this bunch of people lying on their assess doing what ever they feel like eating cookies all fucking day. It is, in fact, a company with a fairly short employment retention.
It's a team where people fluently change their focus and reorganize themselves to what ever project is currently most proficient and promising. The people still have to actually show products of their work.
Does anyone have a link to that video where Valve demonstrates destructible environment? You're in a barn in the demo and suddenly the roof shatters to pieces. That's all I remember of it, I think it had something to do with Half Life as well.
>>318309952
no he didnt u dumb faggot. provide the exact quote or go kill yourself
>>318312060
You mean the bit in Episode 2 where you find the adviser pod and it flees the scene?
It still could be, but the original developers are all scattered to the wind now. I know some of them made Dishonored and I think the new Wolfenstein.
ITT: We make false assumptions about how Valve
works
I'll start: They are too scared to work on HL3

It could be that, it has been years but I remember the scene being different and it being a part of a demo.
