Will Blizzard ever revamp Outland?
>>318285369
No
>>318285369
yes, it was called WoD.
>>318285369
It's already fucking retarded that they destroyed half of the vanilla world and made it look like shit
>>318285369
Stop nostalgia'ing over this shit continent, TBCbabby.
>>318287137
The worst thing about the cata revamp was the whole lot of NOTHING they revamped.
Seriously, they culled 90% of the quests and turned each territory into a chain each.
Then there was shit like Silithus where they had a quest to direct you out of the territory into Blasted lands.
>>318287118
This.
Also>>318287137
Blizzard is trying it's hardest to destroy every little bit of content from old-wow so we can't nostalgia over it.
they just did
next rehash is northrend
>>318287410
>turns out arthas wasn't dead and now he's destroyed all of northrend and made it look like shit!
Wooo
>>318287335
>Then there was shit like Silithus where they had a quest to direct you out of the territory into Blasted lands.
its like that at the whole 1-100
>do all quest of a zone
>quest to talk with some faggot on the next zone
>which suprise! starts all the quests on the zone in the progress
>>318287410
Legion will be the Wrath rehash.
Valkyr, the lich king, vrykul and all that shit is coming back. Northrend isn't a shit continent and doesnt need re-doing so they are just sticking with certain assets.
>>318287335
>Most comfy area destroyed in cata.
l'm still fucking mad.
They kind of did it in WoD
>>318287641
>northrend not a shit continent
hello wotlk kid
>>318287365
I don't think it's for the purpose of preventing nostalgia, They did vanilla because faggots complained about not being able to use their flying mount in vanilla territories. Then blizzard got the idea that they should keep the entire world up to date without thinking that it would cause greater continuity issues.
>>318287515
The joke with Silithus is they didn't change it. The only thing that changed about the territory was that you could explore an empty uninstanced AQ if you had a flying mount.
So people around their mid 50's would go to Silithus and discover it's exactly the same, with a random mage somewhere to basically admit nothings going on ports you to the blasted lands (which blizzard was proud for finally making it a place to level in).
This was sad because Silithus was pretty related theme wise to the expansion.
>>318287515
>>318287335
I think it's more a matter of scale, it took like 50 quests to get from 30 to 40 in vanilla and now it takes 4, the fourth of which is "go to the next area"
It's a shame because areas were really well crafted for each of those 50 quests, I loved questing in the barrens because it seemed like a flat burned out shithole at first but there was so much variance in the tiny areas that made the barrens.
Now they just don't give a fuck, some parts are recycled, a lot were removed, nothing added, and all of it looks like shit designed to throw you down as linear a path as possible to get you to the level cap as fast as possible.
>>318287335
That made cata a good way too quit though.
If you liked the old world and were used to chilling out in areas you liked then all of that being destroyed made for a clean ending really.
>>318287841
No, i'm sorry. I started in vanilla, just liked northrend for it's comfy and it's vastness qualities.
That plus i'm not a sour /v/babby who thinks saying everything is shit is the best way to fall in line.
>>318287841
Vanillafag here, wotlk's continent was pretty good overall, it was everything else that made it awful, and the lack of content in good areas, and every terrible patch except uldum.
It really showed that blizzard had northrend mostly done before activision bought them out and cheaped out so hard on all the actual content.
I wish there was some proper questing in sholazar basin and crystalsong forest. 2 of the most beautiful areas in the entire game and 90% of people never had a visit to either one of them.
>>318288017
If blizzard was smarter about how they handled Wotlk and Cata, Cata wouldn't have been nearly as shit.
Even with the "Scale" question, they could have easily modified every territory with some form of engame content.
Their effort to rush a huge concept like cata is what killed the expansion, it would have been easier to give us something like a new Azjol territory and raid to explore in Wotlk and other shit to tide players over until they made Cata good enough.
>>318287841
I started in Vanilla, Northrend wasn't as perfect as Outland, but it was pretty top notch.
The worst territory was the Boring Tundra, which looked like shit and played like shit.
Then you had a comfy zone like crystal song which no one leveled in despite it having a few quests.
Howling Fjord was one of the comfiest, most beautiful zones in WoW in competition with Grizzly Hills.
>>318288470
>with some form of engame content.
Adding flying mounts to the old world was pretty much the killing blow to any sort of endgame content uses for those areas.
>>318288447
>Activision bought them out, this is why blizzard sucks ass
>this meme
Activision went bankrupt and the parent company merged them with blizzard. The malicious actions of blizzard might have been influenced by Activision marketing but it was more likely changes int he overall MMO genre that lead to the massive decline. By the time of Wotlk F2p models with high profit margins were already rapidly spreading.
>>318289135
>Activision went bankrupt
Yeah not in 2007 dipshit, that was at the height of activision's prime.
And if you want to be a specific type of dipshit about it then "activision's parent bought out blizzard, and merged them into activsion, with activision's awful ceo becoming the ceo of both activision and blizzard"
There, happy?
I swear you dumb niggers are so picky sometimes.
Fact is blizzard was bought out half-way into wotlk's production and wotlk was half shit. Either that's a really fucking weird coincidence or activision and/or their parent company had some sort of influence on why this happened.
>sort of hyped for WoD even though I quit during Mists because BC was my favourite continent
>my two favourite zones were turned into an ocean and cut content, respectively
dodged a bullet there Blizz, thanks
>>318288738
I loved Howling Fjord. Even though Borean Tundra had all the meme quest, it felt like a video game -- too many different flavors. I remember riding around Howling Fjord on WotLK launch just drinking it in.
>>318285369
>>Activision bought them out, this is why blizzard sucks ass
blizzard sucks because blizzard sucks
so many people would like to believe that blizzard was cool and then activision corrupted them, but they just can't accept the truth that blizzard were always a bunch of jews
>>318289714
Vivendi already owned Blizzard long before 2007
>>318285369
Anon this is how blizzard works
A.) is there money in it? if so then yes
or
B.) is there money in it? if not then no
This is no longer a game company, hasn't been for a long long time
>>318289958
I did Howling Fjord first and was taken away
When I later did borean tundra I was disgusted. The only thing interesting about it was the bloodspore fields and Coldarra
>>318289958
Blizzard have like 90% meme quests in their zones. They can't actually craft a unique story when metzen is there
They can't craft anything with that fucking hack
>>318292175
Yeah and then they bought activision and put blizzard under activision's direct supervision, idiot.
And that's how we went from a quality product with a lot of love and thought put into it to a call of duty yearly rehash thrown together by the B team in a blind scramble.
>>318285369
Terokkar Forest was a chill place
>>318294008
Didn't WoD make it less interesting by removing the random crystals?
>>318295159
beats me, I quit in WotLK
