Mm. This is not good. Not good at all. Reviews for Super Mystery Dungeon are finally arriving (no critics received any review copies, a worry in of itself) and a rating like "Meh" isn't boding well, especially coming from such a typically-biased reviewer channel. Its metacritic is actually in the green (for now) but as more reviews come in, I fear that it'll dip into the yellow along with the rest of the games in its series.
I believe Xenoblade X may be our final hope to salvage 2015's game output, and while things do seem high for that game, I can't help but worry that its many censorship controversies will cause people to pass on it.
What are your sincere thoughts on Nintendo's game output in 2015? Why did things go the way they did? Is there anything that could have been done to make it better? We had a few gems sure, this thread isn't meant to ignore them, but a few gems can't stand up to a legion of mediocrity and steaming turds that makes up the rest of the year. So let's the discuss the issue. What went wrong and how could 2016 be better?

I look at it as more of an indication that I shouldn't rush out to buy it. Generally if it's between 75-50 I wait till I can get it on sale if it's something I'm interested in. Only exception I made to that this year was Legend of Legacy which I put a good 20+hrs into so I got my money from that so far.

It's not about being contrarian. I loved Paper Mario 64 and was disappointed when TTYD came out because of how much damn backtracking down linear corridors I had to do.
Why do review scores matter when they help your argument, but don't when they give the game you like a low score?
I haven't so much as glanced at a review for any game I've wanted in years, let alone checked metacritic. As a kid I figured out that game reviews are nothing more than glorified advertising, and I've still yet to be proven wrong.
I do think Nintendo is floundering a bit, though. Splatoon is the only thing Nintendo has done in years that genuinely feels creative and engaging to me. Maybe get the guys responsible to make more games, instead of letting the clueless old guard continue to screw things up.

So there you go it's nostalgia. When you were a kid you didn't realize how much backtracking was in PM 64 than years later you grew up and got bored with it. Both are literally about the same. I still haven't got a second play through of both because of just how boring it is. After you played it once it's almost literally just walking around nothing is exciting anymore.

Third boss in the game is a level 50 Salamance with inflated stats. It hits for 100+ damage and takes maybe 10 damage from a super effective hit.
You're expected to beat it at level 12-14.
Even regular enemies in the dungeons will kill you multiple times unless you're prepared.
