Rockstar San Diego had fucking horrible working condition.
The game was in development hell for years.
The code is so out of order and broken that the game still was buggy after x patches and because of that its also not worth porting it to other platforms. People got layed off for that desaster. Not because it wasn't successful - it was in fact obviously very successful - but because the people who worked on it are too shitty to keep them in the company.

Seems like it'd still be worth it by miles since it'd mainly be a big programming job as opposed to coming up with all the assets and shit again, and they'd easily make millions more with releases on the new consoles/PC. Then again Rockstar has always been weird when it comes to this shit, they dragged their feet on the PC version of GTA5 as much as they could for whatever reason, even though I'm sure the profits have greatly exceeded whatever they put into the port. It'd be interesting to see what's happening behind the scenes with these sorts of decisions.

-Plenty of people who worked on RDR got layed off so the team porting it has zero insight (Not implying that the original devs had any idea either)
-Rockstar would rather use time and money to develop new games with their teams because that would make more money than a portjob
Supposedly the game is a technical clusterfuck, plus Rockstar San Diego have supposedly been working on a sequel for years. I really wouldn't be surprised if the sequel is out within 18 months.
Take2 haven't really done any remasters up until now. Mobile ports and a GTA V ports and neither really count.
That said, it would make them *a lot* of money, so I wouldn't totally rule it out. RDR sold like 10 million copies.

It is tied for my favorite game of last gen. So yes, I think its good.
And a large part of what makes it good is not the story. Its that the bulk of the games content is not on the main story path. As well as allowing you to do story missions when you want. Basically, its free roaming done right.
