If you're talking about the one in Final Fantasy X, he's completely pointless to the story. You could take him out and Tidus' end goal of fighting his dad and Yu Yevon wouldn't change.

Every one of his bossfights was fun and interesting.
His character itself was kinda meh. They needed a villain on the level of the heroes since Sin is an unrelatable turtle thing for most of the game.
People in the FFX universe sure like ridiculous hair styles.
Seymour's "Save Spira by destroying it" plan actually makes sense from the game's perspective. Spirits that are unsent either become like Seymour or let their jealousy of the living overtake them and become fiends. Seymour wanted to kill everyone, so there would be no living to envy. His goal was a world where everyone was unsent and no longer feared Sin because they were already dead.
Like I said, it makes sense from the game's logic.
But it never went anywhere, and he's just a distraction.

Honestly, I kind of enjoyed a good amount of the newer tracks more. Maybe it's because it's been such a long time since I've played the original and can't really compare well. The soundtrack is mostly an improvement, but some songs are somewhat worse off. The "Wandering Flame" song being a big one that is worse in my opinion, which was one of my favorite songs. The lack of Clarinet in it really fucked up the song. The "Spria Scenery" song's strings also don't sound as good in the new track, which is kinda lame.
The "People of the far north" song got fucking hella dank though, way better with the percussion. The "besaid island" song also sounds better imo.
the soundtrack isn't objectively worse though, just different. I ended up adding most of the new songs to my playlist along with the old ones, or even replacing them. Most of the songs are better in my opinion.
Overall was happy with the FFX remix OST and the remake in general. Got enough gameplay time in to beat penance and ended up 10 songs or so from the new ost in my general vidya music playlist, so it was worth it.
The HD version is mostly an improvement, gameplay is the same, voices are the same, graphics are a bit better, though tidus kinda looks funky. You can't change between the original and new sountrack in ps3/vita versions, which is kinda lame since it wouldn't be much more space to throw them both in.

I don't want to get into a pissing contest about what's hard and what's not but some of the boss fights and especially the later mark missions are a good test of how well you understand the game, and it deserves more credit than "it's autopilot EZ city"
And again, I don't want to get into a huge brawl about this but the majority of locations in every FF are linear, and if you want to bring up "but the open world map" they are still linearized by monster levels or necessary vehicles. I'll admit that it's linear as fuck but I find it hard to believe that anyone, let alone a fan of the series, would consider linearity a damning flaw.

Anima is probably the coolest summon I've ever seen though, edgyness aside I like the concept of it being his mother as well as this Christian theology surrounding it (theology major/nerd here). It did legit both scare the shit out of me and fascinate me when I was a kid whenever it did it's overdrive and sucked you into the other dimension for a 99 hit combo
