For the emel: the the area of Kishgal where you run into the bomb enemies that only take one hit to defeat (about 5 screens back from the Midpoint). They drop Emel very frequently, and you don't have to worry too much about dying against them. Depending on your luck, you'll only need to fight them for 30 to 60 minutes before you have all the Emel you need. Just make sure to have the Emel Mallet and the Starlight Medal equipped to help speed it along. Once you have all 300,000 Emel, then upgrade your weapons to Level 11.
For XP: Any place on Kishgal and all the optional bosses.

What I mean with that is that it looks pretty open and has a freely rotating camera, following the characters' backs like pretty much any modern 3rd person action game.
The problem with this is that Falcom has shown time and again they don't have the capacity to pull this off.

See that? That's Tokyo Xanadu. While it's in all likelihood slower than Ys 8(?) it offers a glimpse of what e can expect. Falcom does not make games in ways that take advantage of the style they're choosing. Ys isn't fucking DMC where having the ability to fight in the air or the ground gives the combat new dimensions.
Falcom's mid 2000s action games are good because they fix the perspective. Tons of crazy shit is happening but you can deal with it because you're given a good perspective.

I can't help but think that most of the difficulty in the new Ys will stem from getting hit by off screen attacks.

Literally the only thing Ys games are doing right is boss battles. Aside from some bumper car era Ys and party Ys games levels level design in series is utter shit. Combat system is so hilariously primitive i want to laugh when someone tries to say that this abortion is deep and hardcore or sperging out about playing on nightmare which just requires more pattern memorization and sometimes actually removes some gameplay aspects like blessings in Origin.

I really enjoyed SEVEN but I made it a point to use Adol as much as possible, never use items, and dodge instead of Flash Guarding.
Celceta felt like an improvement control wise and mechanically, but too many bosses were simply "stand still and flash guard."
Also the game looks like someone wiped Vaseline on my eyes.

The only thing you have to watch out for is the disappearing tiles. Hug the boss and out-DPS the fireballs.

Do you like challenging games? Then yes, you can enjoy it despite the weeb shit.
Origin on Nightmare difficulty can get pretty insane, although I personally think Oath in Felghana, which has an even higher difficulty, called Inferno, is much harder.
The bosses in both games don't fuck about. You will die a lot fighting them, especially on the higher difficulties.
