I dont know whether I should blame KS or not, since that shit made me become a weeb, but it also made a lot of people become aware of VNs but not enough to try anything half decent. Fucking sucks so hard. I mean christ, at least play the holy trilogy of babbies first VNs.

There haven't been enough actually good VNs available in English without a ton of fucking around with .isos and translation patches that the average user just isn't capable of. Steins;Gate is fantastic if a little low-profile, Clannad is a big one but that's only been out for a week. What else is there? Maybe Phoenix Wright and Danganronpa but even then they're not exactly 'classic VNs'.

Extra is like 8-10 hours or so, and despite it's shortcomings Unlimited is a great deal better and is similar in length if only a tad longer. It's really not much to read through to play Alternative, reading Extra is a like reading a short bad book in a series to get to the next one.

Look man, I know it's not difficult once you know how you're doing but it's more work than it's worth for a lot of people. You need to find a torrent, sometimes track down the English patch separately, click through an installer in another language, correctly apply the patch and so on. It might be second nature to us weeaboos but we're the freaks of society. Everyone else out there has trouble putting music on their iPhones.

Just skip through it in that case, Extra's pretty much just for characterization and 'world building'. If you've gotten a few hours into it you're probably safe to throw up a choice guide and skip through the text till you unlock Ult.

you can safely skip the Lacrosse arc and the rest is about 3 hours, because you only need to play one route and then skip through the other one
playing extra is only worth to feel what the MC is going through when playing Unlimited and Alternative, hell, Unlimited is basically nothing yet it does a great work to make things interesting without showing the enemy

Extra isn't 50 hours even if you do all the routes. But you don't even need to do that, you only need to finish the routes for the two main heroines, which are 90% the same so you can skip most of it on your second play through. You can probably get through extra in about 6-8 hours.

Well part of the reason I didn't want to go on is that I didn't trust the guy who wrote that piece of shit that's Extra to write something good with the next parts and I was scared I would keep reading for another 20 hours and then realize I still didn't like it and wasted all that time. I'm a pretty slow reader too so it takes me a lot of time to get through stuff.
Plus some stuff got spoiled anyway like the famous chomp pic and I think the kind of effect the game plays on relies a bit on you not expecting stuff. In the end I just decided to forget it and move on, probably better like this.
