>a million bajillion planets
Why would I be hyped for that
>>
June released date killed my hype persoanlly. I just got so tired of the devs dodging questions and putting the same information over and over again.
>>
Looking forward to chilling out in space. Shame it's still so far away though. The game looked fairly complete from all the gameplay we've seen. Not sure what else they might be changing. Maybe just a lot of optimisation.
>>
It looked really cool at first but I think the wanted level system killed it

>Land on a planet filled with hostile life
>Hostile life attacks you
>You retaliate
>BEEP BOOP UR BAD 1 STAR WANTED LEVEL
>Robo-cops continuously attack you, leading to retaliation and increasing your wanted level or dying like a bitch

I sure am. Space games are extremely rare. The only thing we had is barebones elite dangerous and scam citizen for retards.
>>
I feel like, and just give me a minute here, but I think that, and don't hate this instantly please, but I feel like this game could almost benefit from being an MMO, or rather a quasi-MMO. Or at least some sort of big multiplayer option.

Like imagine if you could fly around the galaxy with friends and find planets and shit, and then one day a group of strangers shows up on your planet you've started to colonize and then a war breaks out with invaders or blah blah blah I don't know, it probably wouldn't work with THIS game, but it really got me thinking about how cool a game like that would be if done right.

Infinite puddle deep content isn't fun. We learned this already. No Man's Sky is hoping to scoop in the sucker kids who haven't learned this lesson yet.

The only thing that could save this game is good ship combat and some economy gameplay. Even then that would make it worth around 20$ full price.
>>
>>318251929
Huh, I actually forgot about this game.

The last I saw of the game didn't really make me want to buy it.
Sure, you land on planets and look at the critters, and maybe destroy some rocks, but that seems to be it.
What about interstellar warfare, or exploring hidden ruins on a deserted wasteland, or cool mysterious/horrifying space stuff, or the brutal elements of space?

I also hate how it's multiplayer only.
Is it to much to ask for a single player space game, with other worldly horrors, that makes you feel insignificant?
But that's just me.

Other than that, the game looks okay.

>>318257131
Yea, that's the center of the galaxy.
One location.
Out of the whole galaxy in the game and only one location has something interesting.
I'm not that anon, but only making one area of your game interesting, only because it's mysterious and hard to reach, sounds like shitty game design.

a multiplayer game without any chance to interact with anyone isnt a multiplayer game. well no mans sky isnt a game to begin with anyways, this does not belong into /v/
>>
>>318263853
Do you wear fingerless gloves irl? You seem really fucking annoying.
>>
>>318264145
I say they are full of shit. There is no multiplayer in this turd, only the Planets you discover and the changes on them get synced with other players, just in case they stumble over the same place. Why even bothering with a netcode, if you never ever will meet someone since each player is scattered across the entire galaxy. Even if there is a netcode capable to synchronize all these people, they will never have the chance to find each other.
>>
>open world

Between the release date being so far away and my slow realisation that this isn't going to be a spooky, insane kind if universe. That animal will be an amalgam of pre defined parts. I'm still going to get it, its still a space exploration game its just not the one I want. I want entire quadrants of space to be swallowed by sentient planets. I want strange species that aren't just space cow #10 I want space to be horrifying and exciting at the same time, I have a feeling no man's sky will be solid but ultimately a little more boring than I'd like a space exploration game to be, still if the technology behind it works well maybe someone will use something similar to make the exciting/horrific space exploration game of my dreams.

Pretty much. I don't know why they're so scared to show or tell more unless the game is actually going to be this lacking in content.

That's stupid, even if we do run into a person we might end up shooting them or them shooting us. Who the fuck wants that?
>>
>>318282486
Not anon but, you can't use GTA as a comparison. GTA gives you a lot of stuff to do and fuck around until you finally do them all and get bored, tgat's a loy of hours of content + friends to play with

This game makes it like a chore and repetitive in a mere few hours. Also they said it will be near immpossible to even run into somebody and you might as well play it alone.
>>
>>318282880

I'm not comparing it to GTA, I'm using GTA as an example. You're asking for things that were never advertised, it's like complaining why can't you fly planes in a car racing game, that you can't use magic in a military simulator.

They've never said that online will be a huge focus, yet people think there should be guilds and being able to meet up with friends and shit.
>>
>>318282486
But no one never thought of that. GTA is fine with what it has as always.

No Man Land is taking advantage of very large prodcedural generation, just saying exploration and upgrading your equipment is its main aspect just won't cut it.
>>
>>318282264
>What if I don't want to travel to the center of the universe?

>>
>>318283373

>just saying exploration and upgrading your equipment is its main aspect just won't cut it.

For you guys maybe. You need it to be an mmo but with city building that's a mixture of city builders and 4x games with large scale battles between hundreds of thousands of people oh yeah and have a survival mode as well with crafting and stuff. AKA a completely fucking different game.

So like I was saying, it's like playing GTA and complaining you can't be president.
>>
>>318269828

>>
>>318283776

They showed gameplay just under two months ago.
>>
>>318283350
Okay anon, that's understandable.
It's on how the game presented itself.

Large Proxedural Generation? Sounds good.
Flying through space and exploring seeing planets and the main goal is the center of the universe? Sounds good too.
Upgrading your equipment and ship and trading? Good.

Those are all good attributes, but the game would end up repetitive and become a chore. The average player would end up catching on to the rhythm. If that's all they do the game would end up mediocre at best considering the universe in the game is very large and would become boring in a few hours.
Multi player might as well be added in order to make the playtime longer.
>>
>>318283939

They never said interaction with other players was a main focus, in fact they've said the opposite since pretty much day one.

>Those misleading fucks

Yeah it's their fault you know jack shit.
>>
>>318257131
It'll be the collectors in in the center.
>>
>>318284048

Grinding is still grinding with multiplayer anon, it's like you've never played an mmo before.
>>
>>318284183
O haven't been following it very closely so all I'm going off of was day one, where they heavily implied that you would run into other players. Look at that day one trailer and tell me that the dogfight and the flying in formation, followed immediately by explaining how "thousands of players" would be finding stuff with you doesnt make you think that other players will be around. So while they didn't outright say it, they implied it. Hence misleading fucks
>>
>>318269828

From what I've heard, the game is online but because the game is so fucking big, you'll hardly actually bump into anyone else.

This "game" just seems like the devs are just pushing the machine to it's limits and not actually providing an objective or goal or reason to play.

Their whole shtick this whole time has literally been "look how big it is".
>>
>>318284439
But grinding for materials and trading is obvious as they're in-game economics many mmo's and games like Minecraft do this.
I mean the other elements that the gane give off. Some anons in this thread implied that they would not go to the center, what will they do from there? Just endlessly look at planets and just shoot ships and mine most of the game while the others that do go to the center would be probably busy with a motivated curosity.
>>
>>318285634
>not actually providing an objective

With the POSSIBLE exception of very-strict-definition roguelikes, which center their core gameplay mechanics around randomness, and ultra-fundamental arcade games like Tetris and such, have never seen a game with procedurandom generation that wasn't worse off for it.

So No Man's Sky sounds like a total shitheap.

Remember the more complex the element being randomized, the less likely the randomization is to yield something useful. Randomizing something the scope of a planet is a recipe for boring repeated pallete-swapped layouts and tilesets.

Why are the colors overly vibrant and saturated?
It seems weird, is every planet a giant sun shining like Earth?

Shouldn't there be that one planet that's just dull due to clouds or like the ones in Interstellar where the snow planet didn't seem to exaggerate like the ones in No Man's Sky?

Huh, you have a point there.

If I was 8, that'd sell it for me.

If it was a realistic (relatively) simulator of space exploration, then it'd be mega boring. Take our Solar System for an example. If we count main planets, there are only 4 you can set your foot on (Mercury, Venus [requires special cooling systems and pressure-resistant shit, but you still can land on it], Earth and Mars). The rest are gas giants with only their moons that are of interest to us. All of those planets are just boring, barren wastelands.

Realistic exploration would have those basically 90% of the time you get to see a new planet/moon.
