Personally, BOTH consoles have had shit exclusives (thou xbox has an edge compared to sony) and nearly ALL new multiplats have been shit (besides The Elder Scrolls Online; an mmo is the best game so far for me, weird I know).
But I bought an Xbox because we can all agree it has better controller quality, thumbstick placement, battery life, is a lot quieter, is built for online, has a myriad of video extension support including mkv, a better ui now.

I only bought an Xbox because of Halo 5 and it's a shame this game has no local multiplayer because gameplay-wise it's the best thing that happened to Halo in a long time
got Arkham Knight as well because they supposedly still didn't manage to get the PC version running well
Other than that I got Rare replay and Halo MCC and a few games from the Games for Gold thing, most notably MGSV Ground Zeroes and Tomb Raider but other than that it was mostly indie trash
anyway I had enough fun out of this thing to stop regretting the purchase

I first bought an Xbox One when I heard about The Master Chief Collection. This was around late/end of last year. My good friend bought into the Destiny hype, but he bought a PS4.
I've always enjoyed Halo, I had some good memories with it, met some great people playing on the 360, many of them are gone, but there's still some left.
After Halo 3, ODST, and Wars, we were all still psyched to see what was next for the Franchise. Reach seemed like it was ok, it wasn't exactly wowing, but it was not terrible. We had some solid times playing together, doing cutom games, attempting to LASO that last fucking bastard of a mission.
News of Halo 4 comes along and everyone has this sort of apprehensive excitement with them. Bungie is no longer working on Halo, but 343 will be continuing from Halo 3. I was disappointed, it was boring, I didn't care about the Prometheans, they were such a boring enemy, the Didact was a stupid antagonist. The love story was literally fan fiction tier. The multiplayer was really fucked up, it wasn't Halo.
With that sour taste in my mouth, I still bought Halo MCC, because there's no way you could possibly fuck up Halo 2 multiplayer, and the cinematics looked amazing.
I spent an hour waiting to join a match, that was unnacceptable. No one should have this big of a fucking problem with this large of a game. I lost all my faith in that company, I laughed at the shit heap Halo 5 turned out to be, how they lied in their marketing and presented a laughable fan fiction story. I hope they get fucked.
I dropped the Xbox One like the fucking dead baby it was and bought myself a PS4 to play with my friend.

Thats pretty much it. Bought it day one and so far have only played Ryse at launch. Destiny. The MCC for about an hour before putting away. Halo5, finished the campaign.
I regret buying it but this year has been bad in general for games. The only games I want for PS4 would be the Last of Us and Bloodborne but im not about to spend over $400 for two games.

Furthermore how you enjoy them is important, fighting stick for PS4 and PS3 games is superior, Vita as well for more weeb games, I effectively get the full benefits of my online to use payments the same shit Xbone had, but I have more great games on permanent rental release from early adoption.
