Wonderful 101 was top notch but Batonetta has the same strong points and played it a bit better, imo. Also Bayonetta 2 was pretty solid but the first one had a better pacing that puts it above its sequel.
Viewtiful Joe is great, but not equally good- Okami is also great but suffers from some small hiccups here and there. DmC might be a worth contestant, though.

Kamiya and Mikami are the two greatest game directors alive today. No other director has resumes as good and diverse as them.
Mikami basically invented survivor horror (with RE1 and Dino Crisis), revolutionized third person shooters (with Vanquish and RE4) and made the world's best third-person beat-em-up game (God Hand).
Kamiya basically invented the modern character-action game (with DMC) and even perfected the formula 10 years later (with Bayonetta) and made some of the most aesthetically eclectic and beautiful games around (Viewful Joe and W101) and made one of the best Zelda games (Okami) and one of the best Resident Evil games (RE2).
Two gods of gaming.
I can't wait to see what Mikami has in store for us next. Literally the only thing close to bad he did was PN03.
