I'll take Dante Must Die mode. And I've manufactured a list to detail it.

>top games had a decent amount of challenge, were creative, took a step out of the typical "platformer/first person shooter" bubble
>good for their price point
>no console limitations
>freedom of customization in all of them, be it in-game choices or choice of controls schemes, or mods, or what have you.

Absolutely not but it was a nice touch either way. I really went into it expecting nothing but ended up having a good time.

Yes, which is one of its flaws, but for 8 bucks I honestly cant hate it for all the cool things you can do ingame.

Like what? I'll probably buy it once it's out of EA (much like KF2). I like playing finished products.

The entire physics engine is super nice, but aside from that, I'm admittedly losing interest. Might bump it down a notch because of it. It got a lot of nice free content, like new mechanics and parts and whatnot.

Fallout 4.

I love exploring and so far i've found quite a few interesting things, the sense of adventure is pretty nice.

The gunplay is acceptable and makes the game loads more fun since i never liked VATS since it felt like i was cheating.

The mods help fix a lot of glaring issues.

Bonus Round! Grim Dawn

Pretty generic but solid ARPG, it has eldrich inspirations and a dual class system. Its in early access but everything looks to be shaping up. The new devotion system (a type of passive tree with a few spells) is a nice addition as well. I do suggest giving it a look.

That one fucking boat level with the giga niggas was so much bullshit I nearly came after I beat it.

The Son levels were fun though.
>>
Yoshi's Woolly World

>Solid platforming and levels of appropriate length/challenge, best since Yoshi's Island

Undertale

>Because the game remembers what you've done, it encourages exploring the possibilities of what can be done in game with its short length while at the same time constantly reminding you of the fact that it does remember, giving a real sense of weight to every action you take

>is packed with enough content that a 6 hour game can be played for 30 hours and the player can still be finding new ways to interact with the world

I liked Undertale. It has good music and I like the variations in the game you get depending on your moral choices, a full pacifist playthrough is almost an entirely different game than a genocide playthrough.

Undertale
It was entertaining almost the entire time but lava land got a bit boring
It was satisfying finally beating sans

It's easily the least disappointing game this year and no it's not because I didn't know about the demo or anything, I pirated FO4 and I STILL somehow felt ripped off, I think it was some kind of second hand regret for the helpless saps that did buy it.

I wonder who's behind these posts. . .
>>
Two recent surprises for me. Both 30$ indie games that came out of no where and ended up being excellent.

Vermintide is first. I'm at 125 hours into it, and still haven't beaten it. It takes everything good about L4D and makes it better, and does a lot more extra really well.

And right now, Mordheim: City of the Damned.

It's punishing as fuck, but I can't stop playing it.

Nothing really comes to mind as outstanding this year otherwise. Played a few great things on my Vita but none were from this year.

I guess Diablo 3 actually became good this year.
