Pretty much this. I would have gone for a controller if the cars needed to be handled with precision but I usually just go full throttle and stunt the fuck out of them in less than a minute so it doesn't really matter.
Being accurate and quick with the grappling hook is what matters though.

The grappling hook is the most important mechanic in the game. You shouldn't even really use vehicles unless it's a plane/helicopter or a tank, and those don't really control better with a controller. Using a car for movement is bad because parachute and grappling hook is way faster than cars and can go off-road as well.

It amazes me how all the fucking retards replying to you fail to acknowledge that the driving was garbage, the enemy AI was braindead, the voice acting was cringe worthy, the combat and movement was a bit wonky, and the plot was absolutely inane and awful.
Just Cause 2 was fun, but not fixing any of these glaring faults is unacceptable.
Not to mention, it's a fucking single player game with always online DRM garbage that forces you to play online and be on the leaderboards then interrupts the game whenever the server goes to shit or you lose connection (which it did constantly while I played)

Me and some friends had races, and thanks to the boost mechanic being more or less unlimited it was this really unique driving experience where you could go as fast as you wanted but the difficulty was in actually staying on the road so it was almost like a game of chicken, who would dare to go the fastest and who could actually do so without crashing. That could be the premise for an entire racing game on its own.
