Only companion I was ever able to tolerate in any of these games was my personally modded Glowing One. And he only lasted until he radioactive blasted me about 10 times.
All of them just get in the way, you have little interaction with them once you've completed their quest and the way to manage them is just tedious.

Her backstory kind of requires her to have gay angst since Elijah broke her and Veronica apart since they weren't going to be pumping out a baby any time soon so in her case it's justified.

New Vegas companions all had really huge gimmicks that I couldn't get over when building my own character. For example Boone could only be your companion if you side with NCR, Veronica was voiced by Felicia Day, Lily was a lol so randumb XDD grannie super mutant, Rex was a weird robot dog and Raul sounded like he didn't want to play New Vegas. Overall when playing with them I felt too much that had to sacrifice a lot of what my character was supposed to be to accommodate them which was why 90% of my New Vegas playthroughs were solo.
