I don't understand. Twin stick is having one set of controls manage the translation and the other the rotation. It's synonymous with WASD+mouse.

How is this bad? How else would you do it? Commands, like in tactic games? Tank controls?

I have that super earth deluxe whatever version. 10 hours in and it's definitely worth the 15 bucks I paid. Playing solo can get a bit too hard on higher tier missions, playing with retards is a horrible experience but if you manage to get a good team together it's 9/10.
