How do I beat Ludwig? Is there even harder bosses than him?

I fought him on NG+
Nearly killed him on my first attempt but ran out of healing items. After that I fucked up more because I was fighting less on instinct and more planning which tripped me up a little. All in all it took about about 8 tries.
I guess most people just didn't do the Chalice dungeons because many of the bosses in there were far tougher than Ludwig.

Even in NG he have a bullshit HP comparable to tier 4 chalice dungeon bosses, and you met him pretty early in the game in a fresh run.

Mr.Laurence, I spent a day+ on him on ng+3. After beating him the old veteran Souls spirit came back & beat Orphan on 3rd try.
Can I beat some other DLC bosses before Ludwig?

I haven't played it yet but my one and only character is on ng+7 about half way through. Will I have difficulties, I don't feel like making a new character.

Not even close fuckboi. Cleric beast and Vicar are the only two similar beasts with similar attacks (and even that's debatable). Paarl, Bloodletting, Ludwig, Gascoigne play completely differently.
