The guitar partiture is very reminiscent of slow ambient black-metal(similar to burzum) and early post punk. I assume the developers, were influenced by germanic paganism, you can see it surface in the lore as well.

play vanilla first and then you can try to install dark mysteries as an addon (it's basically NotR for gothic 1)
I got RIsen on the last sale as I was told its made by Gothic devs. Risen 1 was golden, so simillar to Gothic by all terms, hell even the main city looks like Gothic 2's Khronitis (dunno the exact name, sorry m8s).
You can actually enjoy Risen 1 as it has more or less Gothic style combat where you need to mix combos, dodges and tactics to defeat the enemy. But Risen 2 and Risen 3 completely get rid of that system so instead now winning a fight means spamming left click untill the enemy dies. Kinda lame, but watcha gonna do.

what I liked about risen was that at first it seems that we world is really small and then more parts open as you go and it turns out to be the perfect open world size, same as gothic 1 and 2 - not overwhermingly huge and not created using a generator

GUYS. I played and beat Gothic 1 for the first time last year and I fucking loved it. The problem is, I can't seem to get Gothic 2 to launch. I'm on windows 10 (I wasn't able to get it to launch on 7 either). Any ideas?
