Steam OS and the Linux gaming push is fucking shit. Valve will not stick their millions in dota and CSGO hat money to pay developers to port their games and instead advertise for STEAM LINK support? Normies aren't going to buy an $800 computer with no games and shit performance.
Wow, it's almost like it's not for normies.
>>318138030
It's not for enthusiasts, that's for sure.
What was the last good Valve project.
Paid modding, early access, steam controller, steam OS.
All total blunders. Some actually damaging to gaming. What is wrong at Valve.
>steam
>>318137753
but you don't need steamOS to use steam link
>>318138228
They purely did it to remove a bit of the reliance on the windows OS, people have been getting annoyed at windows lately and a lot of people would like to use linux but don't like the fact there's few games.
And besides, you don't buy an $800 computer "with no games and shit performance", it's a fucking operating system not a computer, if you don't like it then change it you dumb fuck.

> What is wrong at Valve.
Valve have been killing PC gaming since 2004. This is nothing new. People are just starting to realize they're cancer.
>>318138476
Steam is the only reason PC gaming is still alive.
>>318138476
Steam sales and the Orange Box were good programs. Something happened at Valve around 2010-2012 imo.
Just because games "work" on it doesn't mean it's not shit
>>318138510
>Steam is the only reason PC gaming is still alive
Shitty console ports is "alive" to you?
>>318138510
this plague of shitty indie titles has truly helped pc gaming. quantity over quality right?
>>318138640
This is a recent development. Started around 2012.
>>318138510
Peer-reviewed source?
>>318138610
>>318138640
If it weren't for Steam there would probably be no good games being produced for PC at all.
>>318138817
>implying there are good games produced for pc at all
>thinking valve can outspend microsoft to lure developers away from d3d12
its nice to see someone trying though.

A few yeara ago, people used tk complain that it was TOO HARD for games to get on steam. There was a controversy where a decrny indie game just could not get on steam even if it deserved it.
How times change.
>>318138873
terraria was pretty fun
>W-we are going to kill Windows!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH
>>318138476
fuck off
pc was absolutely dire in the mid 2000's, steam actually made publishers interested in the platform again
and now even the japs are starting to recognize how big steams audience is
>microsoft moves away from the xbox only platform, they focus on making the nextbox easily compatible with PC so they can go up on the windows store
>nextbox is still a viable console, it's just treated as a type of PC with very specific hardware/peripherals
>windows store now has all nextbox games (so nextbox has no real exclusives so to speak)
Would the windows store be a contender to steam? Would the nextbox be a contender to the ps5?
>>318139194
Don't bother. You are talking with people that think "less PC players, the better" and unironically hope for a videogame crash.
>>318139275
I was thinking they just don't remember. This stuff was up to a decade ago.
>>318138319
They don't make games anymore and think that their "revolutionary" ideas will change gaming for the better. Should have just stuck to making fucking games.
Valve promotes open source software, yet doesn't release source engine source code. Hypocrites amirite?? (this was a sarcastic comment btw, Valve has no economic incentive to release the source code)
As a Linux user I'm not even mad. Sure I play video games, and Valve did a lot of good for gaming on Linux, but I wouldn't want it to be fully dependent on Steam. There are already too many games that aren't sold through other places.
neckbeards and their shitty operating system btfo
literally no reason to use any operating system that isnt windows
>>318140323
I can come with a few. Like spyware, being charged for it despite being shit, being forced to use a GUI you despise... And that without taking into account reliability. There's a reason Windows isn't used for any serious stuff.
The only reason to dual boot Windows is gaming. If that ever disappears, Windows is dead. They know that; that's why they are so opposed to any initiative that makes gaming with Linux more viable.
If you're calling Linux shitty I'm assuming you know nothing but Windows. You can literally get the OSX graphic interface on it, and that's one of the selling points of macs...
