They are all boring dogshit but they exist no doubt.

Only one I can think of is the original Battlefield and Battlefield 2.

Pretty sure you can drive an aircraft carrier in the second game.
>>
world of warships is pretty arcadey and a total grindfest

Steel Ocean may be less grindy, I'm not sure, but it has even smaller maps, which is inexcusable IMO

that said, in both you can drive some seriously huge ships. at higher tiers even cruisers are monsters

I actually kinda like steel ocean, it's mindless fun with big boats. Also early tier BBs don't feel useless and DDs have a purpose

Maybe railguns might revitalize them? Once can only hope.

wows is okay, but like everything wargaming the balance is shit

>fighter groups auto engage each other, rendering jap fighters worthless
>dogfights are too random and make no sense
>torp bombers can drop torpedoes at 1km but the torps travel so slowly that even slow bbs can turn out and dodge
>bb dispersion causes perfect volleys to miss every shot repeatedly
>firespamming is the most effective way to kill bbs because of unrealistic and short torp range less than 5km and shit speeds
>torp detection is based on blips instead of sonar or sighting trails
>cls and dds are the only fun boats to play

I thought subs became useless pretty quickly when the brits got their shit together
>>
>>318140537

They did develop more effective means of fighting the submarines, but as with most things in WWII, what made the difference at the end was the Axis Powers being completely outnumbered and outproduced.

I played WoWS long enough to get to carriers, which is a lot of fucking grinding.

I agree that they were a huge disappointment.

the fighter combat was literally nothing until they added the ability to do a concentrated fire run, where you target a cone of fire and can instakill stuff in your path.

the problem is the aiming graphic on that is super misleading and its very difficult to actually have it register hits.

as far as torp bombers, its okay i guess, but not even complex or as something like defcon's naval combat ( naval nuking not shown in pic )

I've come to the conclusion that the regular ship to ship combat is the best thing about that game, and honestly thats not great either.

Eventually warthunder will add ships, so they say at least, and based on how theyve improved every other wargaming IP that might be cool

im gonna bump with more defcon, if you are mildly interested in the carrier gameplay of WoWS, defcon is a much better iteration of it. game is from like 8 years a go tho so the community is pretty dead and only made up of 500+ hour savants for the most part

No 18" guns on that boat.
Only 18" guns were the MK I and the Type 94

>Battlestations
This, better than any of this world of warships garbage, you can not only control carriers, battleships, destroyers, patrol boats and submarines, but you can also control the planes that the carrier launches from first or third person. There's a large variety of plane types too from dive/torpedo bombers to kamikazi planes and fighters.

I mean in general. In WWI the Germans had a 16" artillery piece made for busting Belgian forts that took them a week to set up and anyone firing the thing had to be at least 300 yards away if they felt like keeping their eardrums intact. The blast it made shattered windows in buildings for over five mile around.
I can't imagine the amount of damage one of those shells could do. Hell, I'd surrender if I knew I even had one of those things pointed at me.
>>
>>318141513
Did you learn that from Hardcore History?

I did.
>>
>>318139046
Honestly, I would have just left Britain be and went after the Soviets sooner instead, saving my airforce and resources for that.

And also accelerated development of the Panther, to deal with the T-34.
