Whatis about the best Dragon Quest TV game to play? Could be any of them, but hopefully just the ones that are most easily accessible or emulatable. Maybe a SNES one or a DS one?

the only DQ games i've beaten are 6 and 8.

7 is a snore if you aren't a DQ fanatic, in my opinion. I love it, but it's very slow-paced.
Everyone will tell you to play 8. It's great and shit. 9 is good as well.
As for the older ones, I like 2 and 5 the most out of those.

If it's a waifu choice you're wanting, you need to play Dragon Quest 5, Hand of the Heavenly Bride.
Especially the DS version.
My favorite is 4, but I've never played 5 or 8 so they might be better.

8 is the most accessible game that is easy to get and play. It's on PS2. It's got pretty 3D grafix and voice acting.
It can be hard but it's charming and has a lot to do in it.

I'm still on the fence as whether to buy the mobile Dragon Quest games on sale. I'm aware it's the best version of IV and it's a steal at $7.50, but the dread of DIGITAL BUTTONS lingers.

Try DQ5. Short, fairly easy to get into and has fun gimmicks. Easy to emulate the SNES version. Has a English translation just in case you're not a Japanese native who uses ancient 80's terms.
Think that one also has a DS version, but real men don't play remakes. Also wouldn't fit the definition of 'TV game' now, would it?

DQVIII is really good and accessible to new people, plus cheap these days.
For GBA there's the Golden Sun games, the FF4/5/6 ports, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, not much else I can think of.

Keep in mind that it's coming out for 3DS next year. I've played the 3DS version; aside from graphics and CERO enforced censorship (just some costumes and a couple scenes were altered), it's easily the superior version.

I can't call it a bad game exactly, but it's one of the most boring in the series. It and II are commonly said to be the worst games in the series (doesn't mean they're not worth playing if you like Dragon Quest though).

I'm actually looking forward to VII and VIII's English release just so I can talk about them with some people. I kinda got the same feeling from it as I do from Chrono Trigger. It's nothing too complex or hard, but when I think about it, the word "fun" Immediately comes to mind. It's just a fun game, not even entirely sure why.
