I've been playing the ps4 version and it looks really, really good, but I haven't seen anything that quite compares to the lighting and shadows starting at 5:28. Perhaps the 2013 demo was running on PC hardware? Or maybe I just haven't been through Da Ghwandai Khar at the right time of night? Needless to say, the devs did a great job regardless, but my OCD is telling me that I'm missing something.

Newsflash: EVERY single E3 demonstration is always made on the dev-PC, just to make things look and run smoother.

The game's visuals ain't revolutionary or anything, but good enough for most part.

Obviously you should be running around at night. Makes stealth so much more easier.

I barely used supply drops, since I was still so used to PW's supply system. It took me a while to figure out that I can swap my whole setup in V, if I just got the money for it.

yeah, it's a huge gmp hole, but it's too much fun to drop into missions with a naked loadout and slowly build yourself up as the mission requires it. I just wish the idroid's UI would load up faster

No, MGS was one of the only games that didn't get downgraded.

That's just the PC version. MGSV looks way better on PC, especially the lighting.

I guess heavy post-processing for your video game footage is kind of a standard thing by now.

At least they didn't pull off the same shit like Dark Souls 2 or Witcher 3.

Fox Engine is still damn good and capable of some great fucking visuals. It's a shame that Konami owns and it basically abandoned video games for good. There are no plans for licensing it either.

A huge loss for the industry really...

The E3 trailer was running off PC hardware, yes. So the PS4 version will never look as good as the trailer in regards to shadow resolution, reflections and anti-aliasing quality.

But, that isn't to say the PS4 version can't look good. Even the Xbone version looks passable, and the last gen versions are pretty good considering the old tech.

I remember infiltrating Da Ghwandai Khar around a certain time and it looked almost but not exactly like the trailer. I don't know what time exactly, but use the phantom cigar to find the time when the shadow placement is similar.

Also, basic photography tricks. The game looks best during the "golden hour," basically the time during sunset and sunrise when the shadows are at a pleasing angle and the sun makes things look gold and pretty.

The game looks less impressive on cloudy days due to less harsh shadows, and during high noon when shadows are directly below objects.

MGSV is a really pretty game on PC. It's a shame that the FOX Engine won't be used on anything other than yearly soccer games now.

Almost perfect pic. Only thing it needs is to use to Blast Arm, which is black so it matches the compression sleeve on the other arm.

All guns in MGSV are fictional hybrids and frankenguns anyway, but you're both right. The AM D114 is clearly a Browning Hi-Power/M1911 hybrid.

Ex. The Honey Bee is clearly a FIM-43 Redeye and FIM-92 Stinger hybrid (get it, Stinger, Honey Bee).

The bandanna doesn't have the wrinkles around the brow area that contour to Snake's eyebrows. It's a small detail yet makes the bandanna look completely different since we're so used to the "furrowed brow" look the bandanna gave Snake all these years.

And yeah, the eyepatch in MGSV is bigger than the MGS3 one, also it clips through the bandanna if you zoom in.

Snake's forehead is bigger now because the character model is more realistic plus he's older, so the bandanna looks wider to cover his entire forehead.

so in order for the bandana to look the same (cover forehead and eyebrows) it has to be larger.
