It was always too much. The only games that easily get that are established franchises and creators going we do it again. They needed to downscale with the option that given a stretch goal is reached they can upscale, crowdfunding should never be for big games as the riskier set up (in funding and less controlled creation) has often gone wrong

Yeah, that seems right. That was one of my disappointments with the Battlescape KS, they just barely scraped by and I think part of that was the timing. Fall is super competitive, and there are lots of costs going on. Gifts of course, but for non-Amerilards that's also they time period when you have to finish dealing with taxes if you filed for an extension back in April (I always just pay them right off, but I have friends who literally get an extension every single year). Other taxes like state property ones are due in Fall too.
I'd think that late-April through July would be good timing for smaller projects, and now that I think about it that's when a lot of the solid initial batch of KS were. A few others were in the Jan/Feb area, which I guess is heart of winter and nothing really going on either, plus some people got dosh for gifts. But most of the Fall ones I can think of that I tried backing in the past actually failed to fund.

Looked like a fun game to me, but yeah 1.5 mil is a crazy amount. Even Shovel Knight and Shantae didn't put enough wind in the sails.
Bad timing, wrong funding site, no dishonest-but-effective cost gauge practices, prototype turns off dumbasses that throw money at things they don't know about, 1.5 is very ambitious, some lackluster reveals.
lab zeros mistake is that they keep adding new characters like its a fighting game and all you need is a big roster.
its an rpg, having GOOD characters and story matters, and you cant develop a dozen good characters on a budget. even if it comes out it's going to be a disaster.

The context of them saying that is mostly under the idea of giving to a cause. Indivisible is not a cause even if some of its funders would have you believe that. It's a product. It's taking advantage of the current SJW-slanted atmosphere to try and survive on that because it doesn't believe it could stand alone. When that fell through, they resorted to toting guest characters.
I'm sure the article is accurate. I'm also willing to bet there's a pretty sizable slant towards "good-natured" stuff like making toys for kids or something over Indiegogos that are just product concepts and that alone.
