What this guy said. SteamOS is a joke and will continue to be one for quite a while. I don't think it will ever match the performance of a Windows PC because
- "It's Linux, so it's faster" is a meme and it's wrong
- Driver support will be an issue for all eternity
- It's all dependant on Vulkan taking off. With DX12 being all the rage, the incentive to switch to Vulkan isn't nearly as big as it was 1-2 years ago.
Don't get me wrong, I think SteamOS is actually a good idea. I just don't see it happening.
